Depression can make even simple things feel impossible—getting out of bed, concentrating, praying, or engaging with people. Many believers struggle with how to worship when depressed, wondering whether God still receives their worship. And it can make worship feel distant or hollow. You know God is worthy. You know Scripture calls us to praise Him. Yet your emotions may feel flat, numb, or even resistant.

If you’ve wrestled with how to worship when depressed, you’re not alone. The Bible is filled with people who worshiped God through seasons of sorrow: David, Job, Hannah, Jeremiah, Paul, and even Jesus Himself in Gethsemane. Scripture never demands that we “cheer up” before we come to God. Instead, God invites us to bring our tears, confusion, and heaviness into His presence.

This isn’t about pretending. It’s about discovering that God meets us in the middle of depression—not after we climb out of it.

Let’s walk through what worship can look like when your heart feels low, fragile, or overwhelmed.

If you’re reading this and you’re not sure what you believe about God yet, you’re still welcome here. Many people begin seeking God in seasons of emotional pain, long before they fully understand Him. In the Bible, worship isn’t a performance or a ritual—it’s simply turning your heart toward the One who made you. Even if you feel unsure, hesitant, or unfamiliar with faith, God meets people who come to Him with honesty. You don’t have to have everything figured out to take a step toward Him.

1. How to Worship When Depressed: Beginning With Honesty

Many Christians mistakenly assume that worship only “counts” when we feel joyful, energetic, or spiritually vibrant. But the Bible paints a very different picture.

Some of the most powerful worship in Scripture comes from people who were exhausted, discouraged, confused, or grieving:

  • David hid in caves
  • Elijah lay under a broom tree praying to die
  • Jeremiah felt forgotten
  • Paul despaired even of life
  • Job sat in ashes
  • Jesus sweat drops of blood in anguish

Not one of them “felt” spiritual in those moments. Yet their worship was real because it was honest.

Biblical worship begins where you really are — not where you wish you were.

God is not measuring your emotional energy. He is welcoming your heart as it is. Depression doesn’t disqualify you from worship. It gives you a deeper place from which to worship honestly.

2. Start Small: Worship Begins With a Whisper, Not a Performance

When you’re depressed, your mind and body often slow down:

  • fatigue
  • emotional numbness
  • difficulty concentrating
  • low motivation
  • reduced energy

So expecting yourself to produce a long, energized worship session can feel crushing.

God does not demand that.

Sometimes worship looks like:

  • a single whispered prayer
  • a few minutes of silence before Him
  • one verse read slowly
  • one worship line spoken aloud
  • one breath of “Lord, I need You”

Jesus said a mustard seed is enough. Your tiny act of turning toward Him—however small—matters more than you know.

Worship doesn’t have to be loud to be real. It doesn’t need to be long to be meaningful. It doesn’t have to feel good to be valuable.

In depression, worship often begins with the smallest act of surrender: “I’m here, Lord…even in this.”

3. Open Your Bible Before You Open Your Mouth

When depression is heavy, it is extremely easy to misinterpret God’s silence as His absence. Your emotions may tell you:

  • “God is far away.”
  • “God doesn’t care.”
  • “I’m too broken to worship.”
  • “God is disappointed in me.”

But none of those are true.

how to worship when depressed

This is why Scripture is essential, especially when your feelings argue otherwise. When you don’t know what to pray or sing, allow God’s Word to speak first.

Here are passages that help reorient your heart:

Psalm 34:18 — “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.”
Psalm 42 — “Why, my soul, are you downcast?”
Isaiah 41:10 — “I will strengthen you and help you.”
Matthew 11:28 — “Come to Me… and I will give you rest.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 — “My grace is sufficient for you.”
Hebrews 13:5 — “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

When depression clouds your mind, let the Word of God begin your worship.

Even one verse can soften what feels numb inside.

4. Use Music as a Gentle Companion, Not a Psychological Fix

how to worship when depressed

Music can be a lifeline when your emotions feel stuck. But for some believers, depression makes worship music feel:

  • overwhelming
  • emotionally disconnected
  • too intense
  • too upbeat
  • too reflective

That’s okay. You’re not failing God because a song doesn’t “hit” the way it used to.

Here’s a gentle approach that works well when worship feels hard:

✔ Choose slow, simple, Scripture-saturated songs

Not the big anthems.
Not the emotional power-ballads.

Think:

  • “Lord, I Need You”
  • “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”
  • “It Is Well”
  • “Be Still My Soul”
  • “He Will Hold Me Fast”

✔ Let music wash over you rather than forcing yourself to sing

Worship isn’t a performance.
Just listening with an open heart is worship.

✔ Keep the environment calm

Low volume. Unless you just feel like letting it rip, then go for it. But do so peacefully.
Minimal pressure.
No expectations of emotional reaction.

Sometimes the Spirit uses gentle worship to slowly loosen the heaviness inside.

5. Tell God the Truth Instead of Telling Him What You Think He Wants to Hear

Depression is exhausting partly because you’re constantly managing how you feel. Don’t carry that into worship.

If you feel:

  • discouraged
  • confused
  • numb
  • angry
  • abandoned
  • unsure
  • ashamed

tell Him.

God never asks us to fake joy.

In fact, Scripture repeatedly models truth-telling before God:

“How long, O Lord?” (Psalm 13)
“My tears have been my food day and night.” (Psalm 42)
“Why have You forgotten me?” (Psalm 42)
“Out of the depths I cry to You.” (Psalm 130)
“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Psalm 22)

If Jesus Himself prayed Psalm 22, you can pray your honest emotions too.

Truth is worship. Pretending is not.

6. Surround Yourself With Community Even When You Don’t Feel Like It

Depression often whispers, “Isolate. Withdraw. You’re a burden.”
But isolation fuels the darkness.

Worship is strengthened by community:

  • sitting in church even if you don’t sing
  • being prayed for by a friend
  • reading Scripture with someone
  • listening to others worship around you

You don’t have to be the strongest person in the room. In seasons of depression, your faith can borrow strength from the faith of others.

If you can’t get to a service, even a Christian friend reading a Psalm over the phone can become a form of worship.

7. Remember That Worship During Depression Is Spiritual Warfare

Depression often comes with lies:

  • “Nothing will ever change.”
  • “God has abandoned me.”
  • “There’s no point in praying.”
  • “You’re too broken.”

Worship confronts those lies—not with emotional hype, but with truth.

Every whisper of praise—however small—is a declaration:

“I choose to trust God even when I don’t feel Him.”

That kind of worship terrifies the enemy.

Depressed worship is not weak worship.
It is courageous worship.

8. Let Worship Become a Pathway of Surrender, Not a Measure of Your Spiritual Strength

Depression can make you feel inadequate or spiritually weak. But remember:

Worship is not a measure of how strong you are.
Worship is an invitation to rest in how strong God is.

You aren’t worshiping to prove anything.
You aren’t worshiping to earn anything.
You aren’t worshiping to “snap out of it.”

You are simply coming as you are, trusting that:

  • God sees
  • God hears
  • God cares
  • God stays
  • God helps
  • God heals

Depression does not diminish God’s love for you.
And it does not diminish your worship before Him.

9. Practice Gentle, Daily Rhythms That Keep Your Heart Turned Toward God

Even small rhythms can keep your heart from drifting into despair:

  • One verse in the morning
  • One breath prayer at lunch (“Lord, be near”)
  • One quiet song before bed
  • One honest journal sentence
  • One walk outside while speaking God’s promises

These are “mustard seed” habits.
Small.
Doable.
Sustainable in depression.

God honors small obediences done with weary faith.

10. Rest in the Promise: Depression Cannot Separate You From God’s Love

Perhaps the most important truth:

Your worship is accepted not because of your emotional state, but because of Christ’s finished work.

Romans 8:38–39 declares that nothing—neither hardship, nor sorrow, nor despair—can separate you from God’s love.

When you worship in depression:

  • God is not disappointed.
  • God is not distant.
  • God is not impatient.

He is near.
He is gentle.
He is the Shepherd who carries the weary.

Your pain does not push Him away.
It draws Him close.

Final Encouragement: God Cherishes Your Worship More Than You Know

This is what it looks like to learn how to worship when depressed—coming to God exactly as you are.

If you’ve been wondering how to worship when depressed, remember this:

God never asks you to manufacture an emotion.
He simply asks you to bring Him your heart.

Worship in depression may feel small, quiet, or weak—but in heaven, it is counted as precious, treasured, and deeply faithful.

Your whispered “Lord, help me” may be the greatest worship of your life.

How To Pray For A Broken Heart: Comfort and Prayers https://livingpraying.com/how-to-pray-for-a-broken-heart/ https://livingpraying.com/how-to-pray-for-a-broken-heart/#respond Tue, 14 Jun 2022 23:26:19 +0000 https://livingpraying.com/?p=1799 When our hearts are broken, we often feel as though we can’t pray. We may not know how to put our feelings into words or even where to start. It’s hard enough trying to cope with the pain and sadness that comes with a broken heart.

But God wants us to come to Him in our time of need, no matter how difficult it may be. In this post, we will discuss how to pray for a broken heart. We will offer spiritual comfort and example prayers that might be needed when you or someone has a broken heart about a relationship or other major but hurtful life event. So, let’s try to learn together how to pray for a broken heart.

How To Pray For A Broken Heart From a Relationship Breakup

Let’s take a look at some circumstances in which someone might have a broken heart.

When The Person With A Broken Heart is You

When we experience a breakup or other hurts that we experience in our lives our hearts can feel shattered. We may feel like we can’t go on and that our life is over. But God wants us to come to Him in our time of need no matter how difficult it may be. In this section, we will discuss how to pray for yourself when you have a broken heart from a relationship breakup.

Prayer can be a difficult thing to do when our hearts are broken. People react in various ways. Some turn inward and become introspective trying to find out what they could have done differently. Others will have a sense of anger.

No matter how you react you need God’s comfort and wisdom. He knows that you are broken-hearted but wants you to call on him in trouble, including asking Him to heal a broken heart. It can’t be overstated that we should turn to our Heavenly Father in our time of need.

He is the only one who can truly heal our broken hearts. It is okay if you don’t know how to put your feelings into words or even where to start. Just begin by pouring out your heart to God and asking Him for His comfort and healing.

When you are broken-hearted there are some things that you first need to realize:

broken heart

God Feels Your Pain

In learning how to pray for a broken heart, we need to realize that God feels our pain. But, God is not like world leaders or politicians who may make that statement. He actually knows and can feel what you are feeling. He understands the wounds of our hearts even more than we do.

He understands our tears and His Spirit is ready to give us hope when we can no longer bear the internal pain we feel. Also realizes that the Bible says that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us even when we don’t know exactly what to pray.

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

Romans 8:26

This Pain Won’t Last Forever

Although there is a lot of truth to it, sometimes it can be a bit overstated that “time heals all wounds.” Hurts, wounds, and losses are various in nature and severity in the lives of individual people with varying personalities.

However, we need to have hope and faith that the pain will get better and that the hurt of the past can eventually break into times of joy and peace. We may not be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel in the present. However, God knows the future and He promises that our pain will not last forever. He wants to heal our broken hearts and give us hope for the future.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”

Psalm 34:18

Let’s move on to some example prayers that you can use or modify when you have a broken heart.

Here is an example prayer for when you have a broken heart from a relationship breakup.

Prayer For Yourself When Experiencing a Broken Heart

Sometimes you simply need to cry out to God for yourself because you have been hurt in a relationship or lost a relationship that was so important to you. You may feel the need to cry out again and again. That is okay. He knows.

“Dear God, I am feeling so lost and alone right now. My heart feels like it has been shattered into pieces. I don’t know how I am going to go on without the person I loved so much. Please give me Your strength and comfort to get through this difficult time. I know that You are the only one who can truly heal my broken heart. Please let me realize that You are in control in spite of my current emotions. Please heal my broken heart, Lord I trust in You, God. In Jesus’ name Amen.”

God knows the extent of your broken heart and does have a plan to comfort you.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 34:18

If you have a friend or family member who is going through a tough breakup, here is an example prayer for them:

man who is hurting

Prayer For Friend Or Family Going Through a Relationship Breakup

Lord, I come before You today asking for Your help and guidance. (Person’s name) is going through a tough time and their heart is broken. You tell us that ‘You are a very present help in time of need.’ I believe that with all of my heart and I ask that you give (person’s name) peace even in the midst of their pain. Please let your Holy Spirit provide comfort for their soul and assure them that their relationship with Jesus Christ is the only true way to heal the pain of the past.

Lord, I trust that you will walk closely with them and let the sounds of that broken relationship be healed in your time.

I pray that You will comfort them and give them the strength to get through this difficult time. Help them see the truth that they are totally loved by their Heavenly Father and You will never leave them.

I know that only You can truly heal their broken heart and we pray that You will do so in Your own time and in Your own way, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Those are some general prayers that you can pray for yourself or someone else with a broken heart. However, here are some more specific prayers that you might want to use when there is a broken heart. When learning how to pray for a broken heart, we also need to turn to our emotions.

A Prayer For Emotions To Settle

When we experience heartbreak from any circumstance one of the primary prayers we should pray is for our Heavenly Father to heal our emotions. Remember, our emotions can either be true or false. Sometimes they tell us the truth. However, they are not great truth-tellers all the time.

Our emotions are responders. They simply respond to the thoughts we are having and they can greatly be comforted if we set our minds on God’s love even in our pain.

Only God in his infinite power can work in us to do this. We can begin to get some relief from the pain our emotions are bringing us by setting our minds on Jesus Christ and trying to see things as God sees things. How does He see things?

Well, He sees your tears, understands how much you hurt, and your lack of peace. However, if you are a Christian, He sees you as a Child of His, redeemed by Christ Jesus, and totally loved by the One and only God.

He sees that He has perfect timing in all things when there are uncertain times in our lives. He knows that His marvelous grace has already been given to you and he knows your future is with Him in Heaven. However, He is there to wipe your tears and give you “grace in the time of need” while you are still on earth.

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6

I wanted to spend quite a bit of time looking at the emotions because when we learn to set our minds on Jesus Christ. We want to let our prayer life reflect an understanding of who He is and the truth about His love for us. We don’t need just some pie in the sky hope that is not real. However, we can genuinely ask for and pursue the peace that is only found as we pray with faith knowing Jesus is in control.

Let’s pray a prayer that gives our emotions to God and asks Him to heal them.

“God, I come to you knowing that the emotional healing that I need can only come as Your Spirit works in me. I am hurting right now from this experience and I need relief from the pain of my emotions. I don’t know how to make the pain go away.

Lord, please help me to give my feelings (my emotions) to You. Work inside of me that I will set my mind on you and have the faith to trust that You can heal the pain and bring peace to my heart.

Please let me dwell on the fact that I am still loved and accepted. Let me focus on the fact, that as a Christian, I already have a new life In Christ Jesus. Let me find rest in that fact no matter how much I hurt at this time. I know that only You can truly heal my broken heart. Lord, I ask that my thoughts and prayers will honor you as I ask you to take away my doubt and my fear. Let me trust in what you say about me and how much I am loved rather than what my emotions try to tell me. I pray for Your healing in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Prayer to Forgive The Person Who Hurt You

This one can be hard. When you have a broken heart that was caused by a break in a relationship it may be that the person did you wrong. Sometimes you can be broken-hearted even if the person didn’t intentionally mean to hurt you.

Either way, if you have ill will, bad feelings, a grudge, or even thoughts of hatred in your heart toward the one who hurt you, then you need to forgive them. Is it because they deserve to be forgiven? No.

We need to forgive those who have wronged us because that is what our Lord asks us to do, and – we overcome our broken-hearted conditions better when we forgive and try to release the former things. Certainly, our Father wants us to recognize and deal with the hurts of our past. However, if our past consumes us, it will take a lot more time to heal our broken hearts and shattered emotions.

Forgiving those who hurt you can be one of the keys to healing a broken heart.

“Dear Lord,

I come to you knowing that I need to forgive the person who caused me pain. I know that dwelling on this and carrying this around will only hurt me more.

Lord, I know that I need to let go of the anger, the bitterness that I feel in my heart toward this person. Please help me to do so. Help me to see them through your eyes and to forgive them as you have forgiven me.

Guide me toward any other relationships in the future and if there is any option of rebuilding the relationship with the one who caused me pain. Even though my emotions may not agree right now, by an act of my will I commit to you that I am forgiving this person. I know this will take a while for my emotions to heal but I choose to forgive. Show me how I can move on from this hurt and how I can use it to become a stronger person.

I ask all of this in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Prayer For Help With Loneliness After the Heartbreak

When we go through a hard breach in a relationship, it can cause loneliness. This can be when a marriage ends, when a dating relationship ends, or even when, for some reason, you no longer have a relationship with a close and dear friend.

Well, here’s the good thing. God is a specialist in helping the loneliness and those with a broken spirit.

“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Here is a prayer that might serve as an example to call out to God when loneliness comes.

“Dear Lord,

I come to you feeling lonely and broken-hearted. I know that I am not alone, and I thank you for that comfort. I know you are here but I need to be assured of Your presence.

Please help me to feel your holy presence in my life during this time. Guide me to meet new people and build new relationships. Help me to find joy in life again and to be content in your company when I am lonely.

I know that you are a Heavenly Father Who loves me more than any friend or family member possibly could. I ask that you give me a greater desire for a vibrant relationship with Jesus, a greater passion for a life of prayer and a joy found only by walking in the Spirit.

Thank you for hearing my prayer and for helping me through this difficult time. In Jeses’ name, amen.”

Prayer For Hope and Joy In Life For The Future

When you experience all of the wounds and trouble of a broken relationship, then you need to have hope for the future and you can have hope. Your soul can be healed and you can have joy in the Spirit of the Lord.

Here is a prayer that you can pray asking God to provide you with peace, joy, and direction in life.

“Dear Lord,

I pray for the “peace that surpasses all understanding” (Phil. 4:6) and I trust that You will provide it. I ask for the joy of the Lord to fill my life once again and to be my strength. I need your direction, Father. Please show me what steps I need to take next.

I thank you for hearing my prayer and for providing what I need and for allowing me to look forward to the future in this difficult time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Turn To God In Praise – Worship Him

Here is another aspect that can be difficult when we need to heal a broken heart. Even though we may not “feel” like it, we need to worship the Lord. We should choose to worship Him for Who He is and for what He has done.

We need to praise Him for the mighty things that He has done as our Holy God. If you know some praise songs or hymns, sing them – even in the rough times. If you will allow the Holy Spirit to work in you, then you can praise God through the storms of your life.

“God, although I still have hurts and wounds in my soul, I turn to you and say thank you for what you’ve done. I praise you for who You are, and I choose to worship you as my God. I give you my life and heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Prayer is a powerful tool that can help us through any tough situation, including heartbreak. If you or someone you know is struggling with a broken heart, consider using these prayers as a way to start finding healing and comfort. Remember, God is always with us and He wants nothing more than for us to turn to Him in our time of need.

Praying for a broken heart is just one way that we can grow closer to God and find healing in His presence. If you’re struggling with a broken heart, don’t hesitate to reach out to a trusted friend or counselor who can offer additional support and guidance. Remember, you are never alone.

How to Pray for Your Adult Children: Strong Reasons You Should and How https://livingpraying.com/how-to-pray-for-your-adult-children/ https://livingpraying.com/how-to-pray-for-your-adult-children/#comments Tue, 14 Jun 2022 02:53:54 +0000 https://livingpraying.com/?p=1787 When our children are young, we spend a lot of time praying for them. We pray that they will be protected from harm, that they will have good health, and that they will find success in life. But what happens when our children become adults?

I guess we can just tell them good luck and let them go on their way. Uh, yeah…uh…no! Do we stop praying for them? Of course not! Let’s discuss how to pray for our adult children, why parents should, and how to discipline ourselves to do so. We will also provide some example prayers to get you started if you need them.

How To Pray For Your Adult Children – Why The Responsibility Never Ends

For many Christians who raised their children into adulthood, they have normally spent an incredible amount of time lifting their kids up to God. As parents, we wanted the best for our kids. We begged God to protect them, guide them, keep them safe, and let them grow into fine adults. And we wanted them to get very wealthy and send us money…okay, maybe we didn’t pray for that….but it couldn’t hurt!

In learning how to pray for your adult children we must first recognize that it’s still our responsibility as parents.

pryaing for a child

That responsibility does not come to an end. Certainly, they fly the coup and go out on their own to build their own lives we must let them. However, I don’t believe God ever wants us to stop praying for them.

Through prayer we have access to the only perfect parent, our Father God found in God’s word. This perfect Father loves us, our children, and wants us to pray for them. He also wants to work in our hearts and in our adult children’s hearts also.

God calls us to continue to let Jesus Christ shine through us to our children. We can do that in the way we live our lives in front of them and by committing to pray faithfully for them. Are we always going to get that right? Nope. However, we make the effort as God would have us.

Why should you continue to pray for your adult children?

Prayer is a primary way that we stay connected to God. Understanding the use of powerful prayers can remind us that our children are never too old for our prayers.

Our Heavenly Father never forgets about us. And, God’s word tells us the Holy Spirit never stops interceding for us.

“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.” Romans 8:26-17

Praying diligently for our adult children’s lives children cannot only make an impact on their lives but also keeps them close to our hearts.

Do you love them any less than you did when they started the first grade and were afraid? Do you love them any less than you did when you waited up for them to come home from a date or night out with friends when they were teenagers?

In one way our concerns about our children can become even stronger when they reach adulthood. When you had them under your roof you may have felt that you had a certain amount of protection that you could give them. However, when they are out on their own, there can sometimes be a sense of foreboding – that you can no longer protect them and you can begin to worry.

Certainly, parents differ in these feelings. Some parents don’t seem to have as many worries as others about their grown children. However, it’s not a matter of our level of emotional concern for them. The question is – should we continue to pray for our adult children consistently and earnestly?

The answer is a firm YES!

Discipline Yourself to Do So

As you learn how to pray for your adult children make sure to ask the Holy Spirit to prompt you to do so every day. However, if you are like me and aren’t a perfect parent and let your mind scatter to the four winds on some days, you can make a daily prayer list. This list can include your children, other members of your family, and others – especially those who do not know Jesus Christ on a personal basis.

That way, you will be reminded each day to take a few minutes and pray for them. You can do this first thing in the morning, during your lunch break, or right before you go to bed at night. It doesn’t matter when you do it, as long as you make it a priority to do it daily.

Some Suggested Prayers For Your Adult Children

Below are some examples of things you can pray for your adult children. You can use these prayers verbatim or modify them to fit your needs.

Pray for their salvation first and foremost if they are not a Christian. God loves them and wants them to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Prayer For The Salvation of Your Adult Child

Here is an example prayer to pray for your adult children to receive Christ as their Savior, be saved, born again, or whatever terminology is familiar to you.

“Dear Lord, I ask that you draw my child to you. I know that the most important thing in their life is to give their life to Christ Jesus. I know that I can’t make that decision for them and children will make their own choices. I just ask that your Holy Spirit would touch them and draw them to you so that they would accept Jesus as their Savior. I pray that they would accept your unconditional love and surrender their lives to Jesus. If possible, please have some Godly friends influence them. Any way you choose to do it, Lord, I just ask for the salvation of my grown children. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Prayer For Wisdom In The Life Of My Adult Child

“Lord, I pray for wisdom for my child. I pray that they would make wise decisions in every area of their life – including their career, finances, marriage, and parenting. Lord, I ask that they would make wise choices and choose good relationships with Godly friends. I also ask that you would give them the greatest of wisdom, which is spiritual wisdom.

I ask that they would make life decisions in a manner worthy of a child of God. Guide them away from bad attitudes and help them stand strong against temptation and any evil thoughts. Let them be people of faith in you and I ask that they look to you as their only strong foundation. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Prayer For An Adult Child’s Future Spouse

One thing that is so important for a parent to pray for is to pray for the future spouse of their child. We want to start that prayer when they are young. However, keep that up until they find the person who will be their husband or wife. We should learn how to pray for our adult children and their future spouses.

“Father, I pray that you will provide just the right spouse for my child. I know that when children grow up it’s likely that will find a spouse. Father, I pray for my child’s future spouse. I pray that you would prepare their heart to be a Godly spouse. I pray that you would bring them together at the right time in both of their lives.

I pray that they would have a deep love and respect for each other and would truly become one flesh to glorify You. I also pray that they will be best friends and enjoy spending time together. Most of all, I pray that their marriage would glorify you, Lord and that you would be at the center of their relationship. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Prayer For An Adult Child Who Is Sick

It’s heartbreaking when a parent finds themselves in a position where their adult child is sick with a disease or other types of physical maladies. Those can bring heart-wrenching times of worry and intense anxiety for a parent. If they require some type of surgery we would point to our post about sincere prayers for surgery.

Here is an example prayer that you might use when you have a child who is sick or injured.

“Lord, I pray for (child’s name). You understand their sickness or disease. My heart breaks to think about my child being sick. Please, Lord, I ask you that you would bring them to complete healing of this illness. I ask for the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit to intervene and make them well and that they can maintain good health in the future.

Lord, whatever you decide I ask that this would increase the faith of everyone involved, including my child. I pray that the Holy Spirit would work to give great encouragement to my child during this time in their lives. No matter what, please don’t let us doubt You, lose faith, or lose heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Prayer for An Adult Child To Experience Peace In Hardships

Sometimes our adult children’s lives go through difficult and complicated seasons. Sometimes it can be because of bad choices they have made and sometimes it’s through no fault of their own, it’s just life. Here is a prayer that you can pray for your child who is experiencing hard times in their life.

“Lord, you know that my child is going through a very difficult circumstance. Their life is troubled, and their faith is weak or at least being challenged. They need great encouragement from above, from family members, and any other encouragement you choose to send their way.

My prayer is that their troubles and difficulties would be lifted from them. I pray that they would find freedom from their anxious mind by focusing on You and not just the things of this world. Please give them peace in their lives and lift the burdens they are carrying. Please take care of my adult child according to your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Prayer For The Financial Stability of Your Grown Children

If you have ever gone through any financial difficulties, you know how unnerving it can be. Financial troubles and worries can be one of the most stressful parts of your grown children’s lives. It’s certainly not wrong to pray faithfully for them to prosper financially. Sure, we would all love for our children to make tons of money and have earthly riches as well as the glorious inheritance they have as God’s children.

However, most of our children may not ever fall in the wealthy or uber-wealthy categories. But, we do want to pray that they will not continually struggle and be worried about making ends meet all of their lives. It’s the parent in us that wants that for our children.

“Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that my children will trust you in all of their financial matters and understand that it all belongs to you. I do ask that they have the discipline and financial means to build a life where they will not have to be constantly consumed by worry about money. I pray that they will make wise financial decisions, stay out of, or get out of as much debt as possible. I ask You to provide them with financial resources so that might be givers to your kingdom and do what you desire for them to do in life.

Please give them opportunities for good employment or good careers in their lives. Give them the spiritual wisdom that it takes to make the Godly decisions about their future that they need to make.

Provide for their needs, dear God. I don’t ask for wealth or riches, just that you provide for them to be financially stable in their lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Bible Verses That You Can Pray for Adult Children

Praying scripture back to God can be a powerful part of our prayer life. As we ask God to make our grown children be Godly men and Godly women you can pray actual Bible verses to Him.

You can adapt them as you need while remaining true to the intent of the scripture. This one is several verses long, but look at how the Apostle, Paul prayed for the church in Colossae. This is an awesome prayer you could adapt for your children.

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:9-14

“Here is another great passage that Paul lovingly sent in a letter to the church in Ephesus. This is a great prayer to pray for your adult children.

“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.” Ephesians 1:15-21

Concluding Thoughts about Praying For Your Adult Children

So, I hope we have arrived at the conclusion that we should pray for our adult children. If you have not been, I hope you will start. If you have been, I hope this article has given you some new ideas about how to pray for your grown children.

They need our prayers because:

-Because they still need God’s protection.

-Because they still need His guidance.

-Because even though they are adults, they are still our children and we want the best for them.

-Because it is our responsibility and it is good for us and our spiritual lives as well

Prayer is a powerful thing. It can change things that we see as impossible. When we pray according to God’s will, He hears us and He answers us. He is a good Father who loves to give good gifts to His children.

Start, or continue praying for your adult children today and watch how God begins to work in their lives!

Spiritual Conversations with Your Adult Children

In addition to praying for your adult children, if the situation is where you can, have spiritual conversations with them. They may or may not be pursuing a walk with Christ.

If they aren’t, we’re not talking about constantly badgering them, but keep the topic of spiritual things on the list of things you can talk to them about.

You might want to share something interesting from a Bible study you have been doing, etc. Bring up practical topics that might help them.

Ask God to open doors and give you opportunities to have spiritual conversations with them. Doe’s your adult child have a modern Bible with appropriate and helpful notes that would encourage them on a daily basis? Perhaps you might want to consider gifting them with a Bible that would offer that type of help.

Keep on loving, praying, and trying to nurture relationships with your children. God bless you as you do!

Prayers For Help When You Are Desperate https://livingpraying.com/prayers-for-help-desperate/ https://livingpraying.com/prayers-for-help-desperate/#respond Wed, 20 Apr 2022 23:10:19 +0000 https://livingpraying.com/?p=1348 It’s midnight, and you can’t sleep. You’ve been tossing and turning for hours, trying to make sense of everything that has gone wrong in your life. It feels like there is no hope left. You’re desperate for a way out, but you don’t know where to turn. You need prayers for help, but you can’t find the right words.

If that sounds like you, then this post is for you. In it, we will discuss the power of prayer when you are feeling desperate for God’s help. Don’t give up on Him – He won’t give up on you!

For Those Times When You Are Experiencing Desperation

prayers for help banner

We will spend quite a bit of time encouraging you on how to pray to get through this very difficult time. However, to begin with, let us call on Jesus for His great mercy in this example prayer. You may be fearful about the future or have a broken heart about something. Pray these words if you would like.

Dear Lord, I need your presence so very much. I’m so anxious. I’m fighting fear and I need to experience your love and grace right now. The scripture says that your Spirit is a very present help in our times of need. I’m asking that you be my refuge and give me hope and a sense of peace during this time. Even though my emotions may be out of control right now I know that you are fully trustworthy to carry me through and protect me. Please be the dearest comforter of my soul. I trust You.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

In times of desperation, heartache, or unbearable stress- be honest with God. He already knows what you are going through, so there is no need to try to hide anything. Tell Him how you feel, even if you are angry at Him, and ask for His help.

Don’t be afraid to pour out your heart to God. He can handle it – and He wants to hear from you.

Maybe that example prayer above during this time of trouble and maybe it helped bring you some peace. I don’t know. But let’s move on a little bit deeper and talk about how we can pray to our Savior and experience His wonderful and gentle love.

A Prayer for Help – How To Pray When You Are Desperate

When you are desperate and need to express a prayer of help to your Heavenly Father you don’t need to have exactly the right words. The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us even when we feel like we don’t have the power to properly communicate the words in our own strength.

It is in these times of extreme trouble that we want to hold nothing in our lives back from God. We want to boldly pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, pleading for God’s strength and focusing on the true God of the Bible. Certainly, if you have been unfaithful to God and need to repent, then this is a great time to do it. And, certainly, if you have never asked God to forgive your sins and put your faith in Him, there is nothing greater that you could do! God loves you so much and will hear you.

prayers for help

Prayer For Help When You Experience Great trouble

There are those times when you circumstances seem as if nothing good could ever penetrate the wall of fear, sadness, betrayal, heartbreak, or loneliness that you are experiencing.

I’m talking about the times when no words, even from well-meaning friends or family members do not even move the needle in terms of your misery. You know that you need a prayer for help but you’re not even sure how to do so.

As I’ve been through so many years of life and ministry, I know that God allows (not causes) some people more pain than others. He allows some people to go through more periods of pain, stress, and unbearable circumstances and I don’t really understand why.

However, I know that He does. One day that cloudy veil of the unknown will be lifted and we will understand why we had to endure a bit of hell on earth. But until then, we do our best to trust him through the fire in which we walk. We may only have the strength to whisper a discouraged prayer to God in those times. Or, maybe we can be like Paul and Silas were in the book of Acts when they were thrown into a dark and damp prison.

Before we take a look at some other prayers, let’s take a quick look at this scripture from the Message paraphrase of the Bible:

The judges went along with the mob, had Paul and Silas’s clothes ripped off and ordered a public beating. After beating them black-and-blue, they threw them into jail, telling the jailkeeper to put them under heavy guard so there would be no chance of escape.

He did just that—threw them into the maximum security cell in the jail and clamped leg irons on them. Along about midnight, Paul and Silas were at prayer and singing a robust hymn to God. The other prisoners couldn’t believe their ears.

Acts 16:22-2

I so much wish that I had the faith that these men had. I wish that I had the courage and strength that they did. I’m a believer. I love God. I know He’s real, but I’m not sure I have ever found myself in such discouraging circumstances as these and still singing. But that doesn’t mean that I or you can’t!

This story serves to tell us that we can have hope in the midst of our trials. We have a good Father who will hear us. He can provide us the faith that we need to carry through.

But how, just how – can we cry out to God in such desperation? How do we cry out to Him in such a way that will move Him to action to intervene in our pain and circumstances? Let’s trust God to help ua as we find that pathway of prayer together.

I want us to walk through five types of prayers and examples in which we can cry out in our pain and trust God to carry us through our most intense struggles.

prayer for help

Prayers for Help – “Confession” – Admitting your Desperation For God

Most everyone is well aware of the statement that the first step to solving a problem is admitting that you have one. If the burden that you carry today is so extremely great, you may not need that reminder.

However, you may need the reminder that Christ Jesus is the answer. If there is something that you need to confess or some area of your life you’re holding back why not do that now.

Your prayer may be something like this:

“Dear Jesus, I want to confess that I am desperate for You. I need You in my life like never before. I have been holding back from fully surrendering this area __________________ of my life to you and I want to give you everything now.

I’m sorry for my sins and I trust what Jesus did on the cross in order to forgive me. You are a faithful God and I give my life totally to you today. Amen.”

Prayers For Help – “Supplication” – Sincerely pleading

Supplication is just a big word for pleading with God to work in your circumstances. When you feel weak, when you need the Divine physician for emotional or physical pain, His grace is available. His peace is available.

Apply this prayer to your own circumstance, but it may be something like this:

“Dear Lord, I know that while we are living in this present world there will be struggles. I know that one day in Heaven you will ultimately answer all prayers when we are in your physical presence. I know that I have eternal life with You in my future.

But God, I hurt right now, I grieve today. Lord, I need peace that I know the world can’t give me right now. I know that it’s through what Jesus Christ did on the cross that my soul can experience His grace right now. And, Lord – I boldly, but very humbly ask for it. Please help me trust that you are in control and I ask that you settle my emotions and give me clarity of thought during this difficult time.

Please let Your Holy Spirit empower me, help me through this time, and bring me through it. I will give you the praise and glory for this. I pray in Jesus name, amen.”

Prayers for Help – “Prayer of Faith” – Demonstrating Your Trust

Hopefully, we have already prayed our prayers in faith. However, we want come to God specifically recognizing the truth of God’s help that he gives to our life. We want to acknowledge that He is a God how lives and exists in all power and glory!

Christians can rely on the truth of God’s word in our prayers and have confidence that the life, death, burial, and glorious resurrection of Jesus was real. We want to acknowledge that whatever God promises, He will deliver Let’s have faith in our heavenly Father that he will answer our prayers.

Sure, we want to pray all of our prayers in faith, but this one is to emphasize the faith and to encourage our heart as we pray:

“My Dear God, I know that you are God Most High, the Almighty and powerful One who spoke this world into being. Father, even though I am desperately troubled right now, I want to come to you in faith. I believe that you have begun answering even as I’m praying.

Father, I know that you are not just some story book character but are the real God of the Bible who comes to forgive and save those who call upon you. Lord, I want you to know that no matter how bad I feel right now, I believe that you are God and will work to bring peace and joy back into my life.”

Prayer of Intercession – Lifting Up Others Involved

This prayer may be the hardest to pray at times and at other times it might be the easiest to pray. Do we trust God enough to pray for those who may have had a part in causing us pain? We may not feel like it, but God does want us to be willing to even pray for those who hurt us.

“But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!”

Matthew 5:44

Or, it may be that you are in pain because a loved one or yours is hurting or you are possibly dealing with your own grief because of the passing of a loved one, or grieving because of a broken relationship. Either way, pray for others who also may be hurting as a part of the situation that is causing you pain.

As Christians, we know that we should lift up others who are in pain even when we are in deep pain ourselves.

It may go something like this:

“God, I ask you to work in the lives of anyone else involved in this situation. Lord, if there are those who are in grief, lift them up by Your Holy Spirit. Bring peace into the hearts of those who are suffering.

And Lord, if there are those that have caused me pain, I ask that you work in their lives also. If they have caused my pain or hurt, may you give me the grace to forgive them.

Lord, I know that there are many people – those that I know and those I do not know that are hurting and suffering as I am. As I humbly and strongly ask you to give me relief in my desperation, I ask that you would give them relief as well.

Thank you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayers for Help “Thanksgiving” – Thanking Him Even In The Midst Of Our Pain

This is a prayer that can be challenging. It’s simply because that it can be very hard to be thankful when we are in distress, we are hurting in some way, and especially when we are in desperate times.

There are three short Bible verses found in 1 Thessalonians that speak to this issue:

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”

I Thessalonians 5:16-18

Notice that the first verse said to always be joyful. It didn’t say happy. Happiness can be caused by outward circumstances, but the deepest sense of joy can be present in our heart of hearts even when we are desperately suffering. And we may not be feeling that joy at the time. But it’s in our spirit. That is only possible if we have the Lord as our Savior and know that Heaven will be our home.

“Never stop praying’ simply means to keep the communication lines open with God all the time. However, what we want to focus on in this final prayer is to “be thankful in all circumstances.”

So many times people want to know what God’s will for their life is. Well, here God plainly states it. I don’t think I have to remind you that you don’t have to be thankful for the trouble, for the pain, for the desperation and what caused it. However, you can – only by grace and faith – be thankful in and through the circumstances. You can be thankful that He is Lord and will never fail you even when your emotions say that He has.

Final Thoughts About Prayers for Help

The prayers above are just example prayers. You don’t have to pray all or any of those. You may have one prayer that includes many of those points.

Plus, those 5 prayers are not some kind of prayer formula. God is a God of truth and He understands the real heart of what you are praying even if the words don’t come out in some kind of precise order.

When you need help, cry out to Him. When you are crushed in spirit, cry out to Him. He is there.

One Final Word

When a child of God is emotionally wounded and cries out to God, does He hear them? Yes. However, even when circumstances may start to get better, emotions can be the last thing that calm. We don’t like it that way, but unfortunately it happens that way a lot.

Just remember, emotions do not equal to the truth. Always trust God over how you feel. Choose to believe how much He loves you and cares for you no matter how you feel,

And always know that you can cry out to Him for help in every situation.

How To Pray For the Nations and Why? 7 Specific Examples https://livingpraying.com/how-to-pray-for-the-nations/ https://livingpraying.com/how-to-pray-for-the-nations/#respond Fri, 04 Mar 2022 02:37:03 +0000 https://livingpraying.com/?p=982 It’s Our Duty to Pray For The Nations

It shouldn’t have to come to a crisis point for us to come to the point where we ask how to pray for the nations. If we follow what we learn in scripture it should come quite a bit more naturally than it does. However, if we’re honest with ourselves, as we try to be on this site, we must admit that our minds and our prayers will gravitate more to our personal and local situations more times than not. Yet, we can take steps to do something about that. We can develop more habits of praying for other nations and, more importantly, develop more of a desire to pray for those nations.

To pray for the nations of this world you simply set your thoughts and hearts toward them and humbly ask God to bless that nation and for His will to be accomplished in that nation. It may be that the country for which you praying has come into some troubled times or maybe facing fearful times ahead. Ask God to give those in positions of authority of that nation wisdom in guiding and providing strong and wise leadership in times of uncertainty and when there are times of well-being and prosperity.

How To Pray For The Nations? First…the WHY.

The Bible is very clear about loving others and putting others first. Yet we somehow put other countries into the back of our minds and quite literally forget to pray for them. We need to ask God to give us the desire to pray for the nations around the world and not just our own.

For certain we would like to pray for the safety, well-being, and success of other nations. We will give some example prayers that you can pray or you can adapt as you own. However, the primary goal is that people in the nation for which you are praying would come to God through a relationship with Jesus Christ. That is the hope for this world and every nation, every tribe, and every tongue!

So, as you pray for more specific aspects of blessings that you might want to come upon a country, just remember the overarching goal is that individuals in that country would come to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

There are always specific prayers that we can pray for the nations around us and all across this earth.

As the time of this writing, the country of Ukraine is being invaded by the country of Russia in what appears to be an evil and unprovoked attack on a sovereign country. The people of Ukraine want life, liberty, and to be able to pursue happiness just like we do. It is our hope that this conflict will be resolved by the time that this article is posted.

However, if it is not please pray for the victims in Ukraine, for their protection, and that the wicked government of Russia would not take over this small country of people who do not deserve this.

How To Pray For the Nations? Believe You Can Make a Difference!

First of all, we must realize that if we are born again, children of God who have direct access to God through prayer, then we should believe that our prayers could make a difference. We need to know that and develop the confidence that God does and can act upon our requests.

We hear news reports from all over the world on social media, other online sites, or on television or radio. It may seem like those places are so foreign to you, so far away, and so out of the scope of your life that you can’t make a difference. However, you certainly can. Know that, as a Christian, you can pray for the nations with much power.

What if you went to bed tonight or woke up tomorrow morning believing that the prayers you pray on that day will affect things that happen in India, Japan, China, Iraq, Afghanistan. No country is too far away from our prayers as we depend upon the Holy Spirit and the promises of God to hear our prayers.

So, first of all, believe and keep believing that you can make a world impact through your prayer life.

How and What To Pray For The Nations? 7 Ways

This part of the topic almost has no boundaries. Can you think of a world of possibilities of what to pray for when it is your friend or relative? Sure, you can come up with much to pray. Do you know things to pray about for your own country and cities? Sure, you do. So, you can pray for the nations of the world in many ways as you do your own country and adapt those prayers for the specific needs of that nation.

1. Pray for Those In The Nation Who Are Without Christ

Obviously, this would be the top priority when we pray for the nations of this planet. In the long term, we want them to become Christians and belong to the family of God. Although it’s a common phrase to say we are “all God’s children,” that is only true in the sense of we are all created by God and was given life by Him. However, because of sin, we need to ask God that He will convict people in all of our nations of their sin and we would all repent and believe in the saving power of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

As you pray for the spiritual salvation of a nation you could say words to this effect:

Heavenly Father, I come to you with what I believe to be the most important prayer for the nation of (country name). I ask that individuals and large groups of individuals would come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.

I ask that the Spirit of God would work in that land and that people would be convicted of sin and turn to you in repentance. I ask that they would accept Jesus’ sacrifice for their sins and begin to live a life that honors You. Regardless of what teachings or religions they have been taught, let them see and receive the word of God and His salvation as given through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In His name, we pray,

Amen

2. Pray for the Nations – The Leaders

As you begin to pray for the nations of the world you can pray for the leaders of those nations. A nation’s leadership certainly has profound effects on the state and the future of that nation. Ask God to work in those leaders. Think of those who are in power. It may be a president or prime minister or other names that various countries have for their heads of state. If it is a country that has much freedom or if it is a country ruled by an iron-fisted dictator, you have a source of power that is beyond any one of those leaders.

In Paul’s second letter to the young Timothy, he says this:

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.

2 Timothy 2:1-4

Even if they are not Christian, still pray that God would use them to bring about circumstances that would help that nation and open up more doors for them to hear and receive the Gospel.

Here is an example prayer of what you might pray for the leadership of another country.

Dear Father,

I want to pray for the leaders of (name of country). I ask that is Your wisdom and by Your power that you will work in his/her life to provide wisdom in making the correct decisions for his country. Lord, I know that in spite of his/her motives or whether their personal agenda is for good or evil, you can work in their lives for the good of your kingdom.

Lord, in your word you show examples of where you used leaders for your purposes even if they didn’t acknowledge you as their God. So, I know that regardless of the condition of the spiritual lives of the leaders of (country), I know that you can intervene and work toward blessing the people of the country. Please let these leaders recognize that true and wise leadership comes from you.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

3. Pray For the Nations – Protection and Physical Needs

As in the situations of many countries, we can find civil unrest, or in the poorest of countries, we are aware of the need for clean water and nutritious food. We need to call upon our God to protect them and provide for them. As we pray for the nations that God lays on our hearts, we want to pray for the physical aspects as well as the spiritual.

It’s hard to give someone the message of the gospel if we can’t help meet their physical needs. Certainly, God can allow troublesome times and suffering to come in any country. Sometimes He may allow (not cause) trouble to happen in a country so that the people may turn back to God (as in the Children of Israel in Scripture).

Whatever the situation might be we want to fervently ask God to intervene and provide the nation with physical protection, for food, water, shelter, and basic necessities of life. Pray for the health and safety of the family units and singles – the mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, and grandparents. Pray that those family units are safe and cared for.

Here is an example prayer:

My Dear Lord,

I want to come to you on behalf of the people of (country name). I ask that you put your supernatural protection around them. I ask that they would be safe from those who might want to do them harm or those who might have evil intentions toward their country.

I ask that you provide them with the type of shelter, food, and water that they need to remain healthy or become healthy. Please let them be able to lie down in peace and safety and be able to rest well at night. Please provide strength and healing for the people of (country) who might be physically sick in some way and we ask you to give them emotional and mental strength as well. Please let them see the blessings and realize that You are the Giver of all good things and worship You.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen

4. Pray For The Nations – The Church

The Gospel of Jesus Christ has gone far and wide in this world and in the country for which you are praying you are likely to find groups of believers, large or small. If it is an oppressive country to Christians, it may be small groups of people who meet off of the radar, but nonetheless a part of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. When you pray for the nations on you heart, please remember Christians that may be in that country.

Also, remember that there is a good chance that there are Christian missionaries who have come and helped those groups of Christians and they are working to build more bodies of believers and encourage those who have placed their faith in Christ.

We pray this special prayer for the Christian church and their leaders because they can be so effective in regions of the world where they live. They may be oppressed, live with discrimination, or in some regions suffer brutality at the hands of ungodly people who do not know the God of love that we experience.

As we pray for Christians in another nation, we could pray like this:

Our Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the Christian people, your church, that you have in the country of (name of country). No matter what they might be experiencing as Your children right now, we ask that Your Holy Spirit would empower them, encourage them, and lead them to make the best decisions in whatever circumstance they find themselves.

As Christians, we ask you to remind them that they have the Holy Spirit inside of them and that He is more powerful than any terrible circumstances, disease, famine, or war that may ever happen to them.

Lord, even as we ask you for the wellbeing of these Christians, we ask that you give them the desire and boldness to share their faith powerfully among their fellow countrymen as they have an opportunity and that you would allow many others to come to Christ through the believers of (country name). We thank you for this.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen

5. Pray For The Nations – The Economy

Maybe you think that prayers for the economy of a nation should be well down the line. Is the long-term spiritual condition the most important for their eternity? Yes. However, Jesus showed us clearly that we should provide physical help as we can. We may not think to pray for economic development when we pray for the nations. However, if a country develops economically (and we’re not talking about everyone getting rich) then more options become available to them in life and ministry.

We can pray that the economic systems of this country will be handled in such a way that will help stabilize or keep the current stability that might be in the country in order that there will be more opportunities for education and more opportunities for people to hear the Gospel, We are well aware that Christians and the church as a whole can weather the most severe of economic situations, but that is not our desire for them.

There are many poor countries that could be helped if wise leaders would work and use the funds that you do gather to develop economic systems that are helpful to the people in the nation. If God provides them a stable economy then the churches may have more funds for outreach and, therefore, bring other people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

We understand that bad economic conditions might have come from greed or the horrible decisions of corrupt leadership. God may allow them to go through troublesome times. However, many times we might see innocent people suffer from harsh economic conditions. Let’s pray that the leaders of this country would make wise choices in helping develop economic systems that are good for the wellbeing of the people for the country for which you are praying.

Here would be a simple prayer as an example of praying for a nation’s economy:

Our Heavenly Father,

I come to You now and ask that if it is Your will, that you bring economic help and strength to the country and people of (name of country). We don’t ask for great wealth or prosperity beyond what should be. We only ask that there would be a supply of funding as is needed for the health and wellbeing of the nation.

Lord, if there is some reason that you have not allowed economic prosperity to a nation, we would never ask anything against Your will. But, Lord if you see fit, please allow their leaders to make wise decisions that will lead the country of (name country) to more freedom and ample supply of funds for the wellbeing of their economic situation. Only you can know what’s best in this and we ask only for that.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Leaders of the Kremlin have delivered much pain

6. Pray For The Nations – That Their Government will Communicate Truth

One of the most frustrating and damaging parts of a country that might be seeing hard times or even semi-hard times is the lack of truth and transparency from their leaders and those in the news media. How can the average person really understand what is going on and make wise decisions about them and their families without the truth being communicated to them?

Nations who have their governments to keep secrets from the public and don’t allow them to understand the full scope of a nation’s situation in the world will not flourish as they should because everyday citizens will attempt to live under false hope and quite probably, lies about the future.

Pray for the government of a nation and the media in the nation to be forthright and honest with the people about the state of the nation. It is so important. Some people live and really don’t understand what is going on in their countries.

Dear Lord,

In a world where leaders sometimes only tell us what they think is best for them, I ask that you press upon the leaders of (country) to be truthful and honest with the nation as much as possible in light of security issues.

Lord, I ask that these people will not have to guess or worry about the intentions of their leaders. Whether their hearts are good or full of evil, you can pierce the darkness with the light. May the people of (country) have discernment and be able to understand the local and national societal and political aspects that affect them.

In situations where these precious people may not have the education or don’t have the understanding of their national situation, let your Holy Spirit work to give wisdom and intuitive nature to these citizens. May the communities of (country) join with Christians in encouraging others and praying for the national wellbeing of this country.

7. Pray For the Nations – Justice To Prevail Over Injustice

There are so many aspects of praying for others. There are so many ways for which we can pray for the nations of the world we couldn’t do anything but skim the surface in this post. However, in an overall sense, we want to pray for Justice and righteousness to prevail over injustice and evil. There are evil people who lead many nations of the world.

There are many powerful people in the world who care about very little other than their own lives and are filled with greed and selfishness. Realizing this is not an act of pride or judgmentalism. It is simply recognizing a truth so that we may be fervent as we pray for the nations that are home to the wicked.

Let’s unite together as Christians and lift up the nations of the world in prayer and ask God to bring justice to those in power and that the Gospel of Jesus Christ will continue to be shared throughout the world.

We know that there will never be complete justice on this Earth until Christ’s return, Satan is punished, and this Earth is governed in the perfection of Christ. Until then we can ask God to bring whatever degree of justice that we can have in the fallen state of this world.

Prayer For The Nations – Developing a Habit

It’s fairly easy to see trouble or conflict in a nation and then pray for that specific situation or need. What is more difficult is to develop a habit of lifting those nations up in prayer specifically on a regular basis.

Journaling Can Be Helpful With Prayer For The Nations

For those who might want to keep a prayer journal, it can serve as a reminder of what nation or nations for which you have prayed in the previous days, weeks, and months. As you develop a continual desire to pray for the nations this can help you develop a regular habit.

Writing for a blog gives me the opportunity to put my thoughts down in words onto a platform that would have been unheard of when I was a young man. However, in the earlier days of my life, I used pen and paper to write my thoughts in daily journal entries that allowed me to have more structure to my prayer life.

If you have never done that I would encourage you to do so. Today we have many online tools that can serve as reminders for all kinds of topics including prayer. So, if you need reminders there is usually an app that can help you. Not long ago I felt encouraged to be more grateful and to practice gratitude. I found a very simple gratitude app that gave me daily reminders for that.

Giving Will Help in Your Prayer For The Nations

Scripture supports the fact that where we give our funds and/or our time and talent suggests the things that we value.

34 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Luke 12:34

Whatever your economic status might be, whether large or small, you normally have opportunities to give to mission projects in other countries. As you invest in those projects or to specific missionaries in foreign countries you are more apt to keep those people and nations on your mind when you come to prayer.

Prayer Matters.

Our prayers do matter. Let us not think that our prayers for foreign nations go unheard by God, They do not. Don’t ever think that you are too far away from the situation at hand in a country. Don’t ever think that you are spiritually too far away from God that your prayers do not matter.

When we call on God out of obedience with faith in Him and depending on Him and His promises, we can be certain that He hears us. We don’t know what troubles God will or will not allow a country to endure. He is not the source of hardship. However, He allows good people to suffer at the hands of evil people or because of harsh conditions on the earth.

He also brings blessings to countries as well. All we can do is to pray for those countries, give financially as we can, and trust God to work in the nations of the world as He sees fit until He brings this world to a close and brings Heaven to earth.

God bless you as you pray!

16 Powerful Prayers For Your Home https://livingpraying.com/16-powerful-prayers-for-your-home/ https://livingpraying.com/16-powerful-prayers-for-your-home/#respond Wed, 02 Feb 2022 01:33:57 +0000 https://livingpraying.com/?p=379 It’s an incredible privilege to lift up prayers for your home.

I remember when we moved from our last home into our current home. Certainly, I prayed over and in the rooms of the brand new house that we had just had built. We were excited and we wanted the blessings and protection of God. The home was larger than our previous home and it would become our home for about 20 years of our church ministry.

Although, as a minister, I knew how to pray for my home and house. And for clarity, sometimes I may use the words interchangeably. Although a house and a home can be technically defined differently, I want to speak to both in this post, so consider this as praying for the physical house and, more importantly, the occupants and what goes on in the lives of the occupants in that home.

prayers for your home black man

We always like to offer what we call our pocket prayers. Those are very short prayers for your home or many other topics. These can be brought to mind at any time during the day when you are away from any prayer journals, your Bible, or any other forms of prayer helps throughout the day. So, although we hope you will go into detail with at least a few of the prayers below, here is one of those prayers for your home you can pray at any time.

Dear Lord, I am thankful for this home that you have allowed us to have. I don’t want to take for granted that I have a home. I would simply ask you to bless each part of it. Please bless and protect each and every room and every person who will use those rooms. I pray that our home and family will set a good example for others for the glory of God. Amen.

Also, when LivingPraying.com offers example prayers, that’s just what they are examples. Use them if they resonate with you and make them yours, praying them with sincerity from your heart. However, you may read the words of prayers for your home on these pages and be sparked onto much better prayers that come from the deepest recesses of your heart.

We just want to help encourage you spiritually. If we can do that by providing you with these prayers, then it makes us happy! First of all, let’s spend just a little time talking about why we would need prayers for our home.

Prayers For Your Home – Are They Necessary?

If you are a child of God, trying your best to live a life in fellowship with Him and honoring Jesus as Lord, does it really matter that much if you pray over your house and home with very much detail?

Well, first of all, let me say that if you are doing what is described above – being in fellowship with God, and honoring Him with your life, are we saying that all of the prayers on this page are absolutely necessary to pray? Absolutely not.

However, I believe that there is great importance of praying prayers for your home because of the implications of a Godly and loving family that you want to thrive there. But, also it is certainly very reasonable to pray over the physical home, specific rooms, and the types of good, wholesome, and Godly activities that you want to see carried out in those rooms.

prayers for your home safe place

When we talk about prayers for your home to be a safe place, we need that phrase to extend well beyond physical safety. Certainly, we want the physical safety of everyone in this home and the structure itself.

However, we want to pray deeper than that. We want every person who lives in this home to feel the freedom to be themselves, the safety to share their lives, their good days, their bad days, their hopes, dreams, and especially their fears and problems. We want them to feel that that home is safe physically, mentally, and spiritually. These are so important that we will divide them into individual prayers, but certainly, you can combine this into one shorter prayer if you like. So let’s start there with this prayer.

Prayers For Your Home To Be a Safe Place Physically

Prayer for Physical Safety

Dear Father, we are so thankful that you have provided us with a home. We understand that it is a great privilege that you have given us. Right now we want to ask for your physical protection for our home. God, we pray that there will be physical safety here and that you would guard us against harm from any person or thing. We ask that this would be a dwelling where there were rarely if ever, physical injuries in this home. Please be our physical protector. We ask that you protect the physical house structure from storms and other conditions that might be destructive or harmful to the house. Please put Your divine protection around our home as much as it is according to your will and plans.

Prayer for Mental Safety

Father, We ask that this home be a home where an atmosphere is built where we can be real with each other, sharing our hearts and lives together without the fear of condemnation. We ask that this would be a place where we knew that we would be loved and accepted as a person. We know that there will be times of disagreement. However, we ask that even if we were to have major disagreements that we would do so in a spirit of love, respect.

When we might debate topics or ideas, let us do so without attacking the worth or character of someone in our home. We pray that it will truly be a place where we know it is safe to share what is going on in our lives without fear that we will be attacked as a person, even if we do disagree about things from time to time. Thank you so much for this blessing. Amen.”

Prayer For Spiritual Safety

Dear Lord, in your word it says, “Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” God, it’s not that we want to be paranoid and look for a demon behind every bush. However, we do know that the enemy of God, Satan, is our enemy as well and that He would love to introduce evil notions, ideas, and disruptions to the spiritual growth of those in our home.

We simply asked that, in the name of Jesus, you stop the enemy, protect us spiritually, and may your Spirit consistently remind us to “watch out” for the tactics, the ideas, and the influences of the enemy of God. We thank you for this. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

prayers for your home individual rooms

Well, I’m going to be honest and make an admission to you right now. I have three adult children these days. So, actually, I was more intentional about praying in, or for, a particular part of our home when we had small children living there. So, now I have to think in terms of my wife and grandchildren being there. Also, for the time being, our youngest daughter and her husband, my new son-in-law are living upstairs for a few months so I still have much to pray over!

prayers for your home kitchen

Prayers For the Individual Rooms of Our Home

You can pray these next individual prayers in one of two ways. You can pray them from wherever you may be at the time. However, I think there is something special about being in that particular part of the home when you are praying the prayer over that part of the home. I guess we’re talking about a bit of a prayer walk.

This isn’t something that you should feel like you have to do to the extreme. Do it as God leads you to if this is a prayer practice that you want to use. So, if you would like, let’s take some sections of our homes and think individually about them and put some thought into individualized praying for these spaces in our homes. Let’s start where a lot of time is spent.

prayers for your home kitchen

Prayers For Your Home – The Kitchen

A lot of work, plans, and conversations happen during the course of meal preparation. Let’s say a prayer for that special and important area of our home.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you so much that you have provided us with a place to prepare meals that give us physical strength. We want to pray your special blessing over this very special part of our home. We pray that You will provide us with the food and groceries that we need and that we will prepare them as well as we can. If possible, help us share the load with each other in preparing those meals.

Also, as much as possible, let us prepare healthy meals for our family. Please bless and give us wisdom in the many conversations that take place in our kitchen. Let it be a place of love and warmth and may it bring memories that will last a lifetime and what we do in there bring you glory and honor. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

prayers for your home dining room

Prayers For Your Home – The Dining Room

Unfortunately, many times this is not necessarily the meal gathering place that it used to be in our culture. However, it still is with many families and we hope that yours is one of them. Some of the most vital and important communication that a family can have might very well come from the dining room table. You may have a combination kitchen/dining room space and the importance of the place remains the same. Let’s pray a prayer for the place where many have their meals.

Our Father, we know that in this place where we share our meals conversations will occur that are very meaningful to our family. We pray that there will be lots of love, encouragement, and Godly words spoken around our table as we share meals together. God, we ask for joy, laughter, and many great times around this table.

May it be a place where friends and family are welcomed and a place where all who join us know that You are the center of our existence. I pray that people will grow to love each other more and that they will also grow to love You more as we gather around this table. Thank you for the blessings of the meals we will share together. In Your name, Amen.

Prayers For Your Home – The Living Room

Wow, it’s hard to even imagine what has happened and what will be in store for your home’s living room. In most homes, this becomes the primary gathering place for the family and friends to hang out, socialize, play games, watch TV, and do other types of activities.

The important conversations that go on in this room will more than likely have profound implications for the lives of those living in this home. Let’s pray that God will mightily bless the conversations and activities that take place in our living rooms.

“Dear Father, as we look to the primary gathering place of our home, we can only ask for Your greatest blessings and protection on this special place and what goes on there. We ask that we do and say things that are pleasing to you, that our eyes and ears will be filled with entertainment that you would be pleased with.

We ask that we let this be a place where our family and friends can gather and share their lives with each other. Let us stay mindful to take care of this special room and may everything we do in our home’s living room reflect glory back to You. In Your name, we pray, amen.

prayers for your home - the bedrooms

Prayers For Your Home – Bedrooms

For those of us who are privileged enough to have private bedrooms, or if you shared bedrooms with others, you still need it to be your place of rest, peace, and a bit of your own sanctuary away from the noise of life, if possible.

This is also about something that is so majorly important to the health of our bodies – sleep. For anyone who has ever had any type of health condition that has interrupted your sleep, they will tell you how mandatory it is to get the sleep that we need. So as we say a prayer for our home concerning our bedrooms, let’s keep those things in mind.

Heavenly Father, thank You that I have a place to lay my head at night. Thank you that I don’t have to sleep outside exposed to the elements. You made us and designed our bodies to need sleep and rest. So, I ask that You would give us the discipline to get the amount of sleep that we need, rest as we need to, and keep our bedrooms in order so that those rooms can be a quiet place where we can retreat to our own thoughts when we need to.

Thank You that I can look forward to laying my head down on my pillow and sleeping. Please watch over us in our bedrooms as we get our needed sleep. We trust You for protection in the night. Thank You, Father. Amen.

Prayers for your home bathrooms

Prayers For Your Home – Bathrooms

Ok, bathrooms?? We’re praying for bathrooms? One might think that we’ve gotten a bit over the top with this one, but not really. Our bathroom occupies an extremely important and very unique place for our physical bodies. I’m not simply talking about the toilets. Our bathrooms are modern luxuries for which we should be thankful.

Our bathrooms are a place where, if you think about it, we take care of an incredible amount of our physical health needs. It can be a place of cleanliness, restoration, relaxation, and rejuvenation, as well as our personal grooming and hygiene.

We apply cleanliness to ourselves in our bathrooms, we take care of minor injuries to ourselves and our children in our bathrooms. We train and teach our youngsters about toiletry and hygiene in our bathrooms. We are so blessed to have what we have! So, as we pray these prayers for your home let’s definitely include the bathrooms.

Dear Lord, while others may think it silly or unnecessary to pray for bathrooms, we want to praise You for these modern conveniences. Not only do we want to give praise and thanks for them, but we want you to bless our bathrooms as we raise our children, as we teach and train them, as we teach them about cleanliness and being conscious of their personal hygiene.

May it also be a place where we can relax in the tub or the shower and, while doing so, thank you for that remarkable privilege. Let us not think that you are unconcerned about any room in the homes that you have given us. You have made us as we are and we ask you to bless our bathrooms. Thank You, Lord. Amen.”

prayers for your home laundry room

Prayers For Your Home – Laundry Room

A home’s laundry room can be a place where several people work throughout the week, however, we realize that many times it is a place of service for someone, particularly mothers, who do the task of keeping up with the laundry. To be honest, I don’t do a lot of laundry, but just as I write this I know that I should do more to help my lovely wife.

So, the laundry room can be a room where there is much aggravation and it can be a place of service to others. With so much work that happens in this room, I think we dare not leave it out of our prayer as you mentally or physically walk through the rooms of your home with prayers for your home.

Dear Lord, I know very few people who enjoy doing laundry. It’s a task that we perform more and more in this modern world. Because of the technology you’ve allowed us to enjoy, we can more quickly keep our earthly garments clean and fresh. Our prayer is that you will bless this room and in particular, the primary one(s) that do the important tasks that are done in this room from day to day, week to week.

Give them a song in their heart as they wash and dry clothes, fold, iron, and do anything other tasks that our family members do as it pertains to this room. Once again, we don’t want any room in our home to be thought of totally outside of the spiritual realm because that is where we can have true peace. Thank you for the laundry room as we live, love, and serve each other.

prayers for your home office

Prayers For Your Home Office

Now, this is a topic that we might have not explored very much even a few decades ago. However, today we have so many people who telecommute or work from home in some capacity. It’s extremely common for families to build homes with offices built in them from the start, or turn one of the bedrooms into an office.

So, this brings us to the point as to why this is a place of much importance and significance. Many people earn their living working from home. They correspond with people via phone, video chat, messaging, email, and social media. Your home office may very well be your hub to correspond with the world. There are so many reasons to cover this room with prayer.

If you don’t happen to have an office in your home, then maybe you can pray for the specific area where you might use your computer or smartphone the most often. So, let’s get right to an example of prayers for your home office.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the ability to work and make a living. I thank you for the modern conveniences of technology that allow so many people to make a living from home. We want to use the space in our home office wisely and do the work in there that must be done to the best of our ability. However, we ask that You constantly make us aware of Your presence in our work-at-home environment.

When we reach out to our colleagues with phone calls, video chats, or other online messages we asked that every word and action be sprinkled with Your love and grace so that we might be an example of Your love and kindness to the world. Bless this place of work and service and we dedicate it to You. Thank You, Lord. Amen.

prayers for your home for peace

Prayers For Your Home – A Place Of Peace

The pace of this world is more than hectic. People are argumentative, critical, unloving to each other and we have gone through quite a rough time in our world in the last few years. I believe that we should cry out for a place, a home where we find much more peaceful than the outside world. We want a place more peaceful than the workplace, more peaceful than driving our cars, a place of refuge after a long day or many long days.

I believe God can make our homes to be this way. This is such a missing piece in so many homes, here we are going to have 3 different examples of peace prayers for your home. Here they are:

Dear Lord, We just want to come to you and ask for a general sense of peacefulness in our home. Lord, there is so much turmoil in the world. When we return home from our jobs, for our schools, from our activities we want to find a place of peace in which we live. We know that You are our ultimate peace and greatest place of refuge.

We ask that our home be so bathed in Your love and peace that it makes a profound difference in the lives of those who live here and visit us. Lord, when we walk through the doors of our home each time may we realize the general sense of peace that only You can bring to our home. Thank You, Lord.

Dear God, I want to pray for peace for the emotional well-being of each person in our home. God, You are the One who gave us the ability to have emotions that are full of wonder, and we can also choose or be brought to emotions that can bring much sadness, depression, and more. We certainly don’t ask that we be kept from all bad things that can affect the way we feel.

We just ask that we rely on You and know that Your truth is greater than any emotion, whether we are feeling the highest of highs or the lowest of lows. Please help us guard what we set our minds on so that those who live in this home can have the stability and clarity of mind that only comes from You.

Father, I would like to ask for peace for those in our home in the area of our spiritual lives. We understand that You are everything to us and will provide our permanent home forever. May those in our home have a spiritual peace that is only forged in time spent with you in prayer, in study and meditation on Your word, and also in giving service to others.

Please help us go deep into Your love, accept Your Son, Jesus, and live a life with the assurance of a relationship with Him. Thank you so much for Your love. Amen.

prayers for your home basement

Prayers For Your Home – Basement

This one might or might not apply to you. If it does, here are some thoughts. I have a basement and I truly realize the importance of keeping it organized and usable. To be honest, right now there is way too much stuff down there – much of which should be thrown away. If you have a basement, I would think that we should definitely include it if we are praying for the various parts of our home.

It can be a blessing to have that extra storage, or you can finish out part or all of your basement. We did so when we had our home built. It can almost be a blessing or a curse if you let yourself use it the wrong way. It can be an organized storage place or living area or it can be a catch-all place for junk. And really, like everything else, God needs to be in on that decision.

“Dear Lord, I’m thankful that I am blessed to have a basement. I know that having this additional space is a luxury for many. Lord, I ask that you help us make wise decisions in the way that we use the space in our basement. If there is a particular way that you want us to use it, please show us.

We ask that you bless all work or activities that may be carried out in our basement and that its overall use would be pleasing to you. Help us to be good stewards of this space as the rest of the spaces in our home. We thank you again, Lord.”

Prayers For Your Home – Entrances

You want each and every entrance into your home to be welcoming. Certainly, you will want the primary entrance to visitors to feel as welcoming as possible. It doesn’t have to be elaborate but hopefully warm and inviting to guests. I think that it’s good to include these entranceways in the prayers for your home. Simply ask God for His blessings as people come and go through those entrances.

“Dear Lord, We ask Your blessings on each and every entrance into our home. For Doors, porches, foyers, garages, or any pathway from the outside into our home, we pray that people will sense that this is a home whose occupants are people who recognize the value of Christian character and trust in You. We pray that guests in our home will feel welcomed as they come in.

If for any reason, someone tries to enter our home who doesn’t belong there, we pray that you would protect those entrances with your power. May your Holy Spirit watch over us in every way. In Your name, Amen.”

I hope that these prayers for your home have been a helpful page for you. It’s my prayer that you will be encouraged by praying some of these prayers as is, or changing them to fit your needs.

I wish you the very best and ask God to bless the home of anyone who may land on this page and prayer these prayers. I encourage you to submit your lives, your homes, and your families to the lordship of Jesus Christ who lives today and can provide all of our needs in life.

Prayer Of Salvation | Life’s Most Important https://livingpraying.com/prayer-of-salvation-most-important/ https://livingpraying.com/prayer-of-salvation-most-important/#respond Thu, 27 Jan 2022 02:05:00 +0000 https://livingpraying.com/?p=237 You may have heard of what is sometimes referred to as the prayer of salvation. Personally, I am a believer in all of the scriptures in the Bible (when it’s read in context) – the poetry, history, and letters found in the Bible. I believe it all. I believe the story. I believe that God sent His son Jesus to earth so that we might be forgiven of our sins and live a life with and for God, ultimately in a place called Heaven.

Having a true relationship with Jesus and trusting Him for the forgiveness of sin is not something that you automatically inherit because your parents were Christian. Nor does it happen by osmosis because you attended church all of your life. It requires a choice.

When we speak of a “prayer of salvation” it’s much more than rotely reciting a prayer we might have heard and may not mean. Having a relationship with Jesus Christ is so much more than just stating a prayer. However, giving your life to Christ in a true prayer of salvation is the fundamental turning point of your life. It can be the time when a person submits their lives to Christ, acknowledging their sins and trusting that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation.

There must be a time or season in your life when you connected with Jesus Christ in a way that brings a heart change to you. At that point, you genuinely become a Christian.

In one of pastor Louie Giglio’s sermons, he gave a definition of a Christian that reads like this:

“To wholeheartedly and exclusively trust in the person and the claims of Jesus Christ, activating a new birth that results in a lifestyle that mirrors His values, teaching and ways so that others may see and know Him.”

Pastor Louie Giglio

A prayer of salvation is our statement of faith to Christ that we believe and trust Him, and also our plea to Him that we would be forgiven of our sins and brought in right standing with Him. A prayer of salvation is a tool to help and encourage you in that wonderful and supernatural transaction that can only be done with the power of God.

There are no exact and specific words that must be said. It is much more about what a person means in their heart rather than the exact wording. It is an act of believing that Jesus Christ is Lord, turning from your sins, and accepting His forgiveness. At LivingPraying.com we ultimately want people to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. A prayer of salvation might go something like this.

Lord, I realize that I have failed in many ways. I recognize that I am a sinner, but that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again so that I might be forgiven and have eternal life. Jesus, I ask you right now to come into my life, forgive my sins, and make me new. I submit to You and give my life to you. I accept You as my Savior and I now thank you for what you have done for me.

This prayer above is not magic and is only as good as a person’s true intention behind the prayer. The same prayer could be said in many different ways, longer or shorter. The key is turning to and giving your life to Him.

Mankind’s Search For The Supernatural

Deep in the heart of mankind, there is what some people call a “God-shaped” void or hole that exists that only a great supernatural force or being can fill that void. As Christians, we know that it is the One True God, whose Son is Jesus Christ, and the other part of the Holy Trinity is the Holy Spirit that empowers and lives in the lives of Christians on earth.

While many people chase occult practices like psychic readings, tarot cards, zodiac signs, and a plethora of other non-Christian pathways, Christians put their faith in, and entrust their eternal salvation to the God of the Bible.

So, we have given one, of many examples that we could give of the Prayer of Salvation, let’s talk about the story in general. Why do we even need to turn to the God of the Bible?

Prayers of salvation

Why Do We Need a Prayer of Salvation?

First, the reliable source of information that contains what Christians believe to be divinely inspired information for our lives is the Bible. In the Bible, we see the most epic of stories that begins with the creation of the world, and then early on in scripture, we see that man and woman were created. Yep, you got it right. Adam and Eve. Christians don’t believe that it’s just a fable.

God basically gave Adam and Even a good deal. He put them in the most lavish of places that we could possibly imagine. It was called the Garden of Eden in the scriptures. They really had it made there! You could probably tell a bit of the rest of the story yourself, right?

So, you might recall that God gave them the ability to make choices, and He gave them a huge one. He told them that they could eat from every tree in the garden, except one. If they ate from that one that was forbidden they would surely die. Would they die physically? Yes, eventually. But dying spiritually? That would happen immediately.

Well, Eve happened to fall into temptation first and ate from the forbidden tree, then her husband Adam did so as well.

So, they had been without sin, in perfect union with God, and living in a perfect world. However, their choice of rebelling against God started a huge chain of events that brought corruption and decay to them. However, not only to them – but to the planet as well.

And to the man he said, “Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.

Genesis 3:17

The Inheritance of Our Sin Nature

Unfortunately, after Adam and Eve, everyone (except Jesus, which is explained by the Virgin Birth) was born with an inherited sinful nature.

Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned.

Romans 5:12

Ouch! This is sometimes called the Doctrine of Original Sin. It means that you inherited your sinfulness and are, in essence, a sinner even if you could somehow lead a perfect life – which you can’t. Either way, without the forgiveness of Jesus Christ, applied to us, we stand as unforgiven sinners.

So, everybody checks into planet earth with what is actually a dead spirit corrupted by the nature of inherited sin. You don’t have to be a thief, adulterer, murderer, or bank robber to be a sinner. We are sinners by nature. We also are sinners because of our inability to adhere to God’s law – the Big Ten, his moral law, or the Ten Commandments.

Have you ever coveted? Have you ever taken the Lord’s name in vain? Have you ever committed adultery? Maybe on that one, you say, no. But God’s law reaches into the heart. Jesus told us that even if you have lusted for someone in your heart you are still guilty of adultery.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.” But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Matthew 5:27-28

This sin thing is really big in God’s eyes, and if we are wise, it will be to us.

God Had a Plan

The first portion of the Bible known as the Old Testament shows us God’s relationship with His chosen people, Israel. Some of the old testament is very confusing especially if you only give it a cursory reading and don’t study it. We must understand that it’s about God keeping a relationship with Israel, protecting the lineage of Jesus Christ, and eventually bringing His plan of redemption and forgiveness through His Son, Jesus.

The children of Israel were eventually given the Ten Commandments and hundreds of other laws that they basically couldn’t keep, nor could we. We couldn’t come close to keeping even the ten commandments. So, we all stand before God having broken His law, and needing forgiveness so that we can be in right standing with God. He also instituted the Old Testament sacrificial system for the Israelites that would serve as the substitutionary payment of sin until the true spotless Lamb (Jesus) would take upon Himself all sins.

The News Gets Really Good

It wasn’t that the Law or the sacrificial system of the Old Testament was wrong or evil – not at all. But God ultimately had a perfect solution planned.

So, Jesus checks into planet Earth as a baby. The Savior of the world in a manger. A large portion of the world celebrates His birth at Christmas even when they don’t understand the story.

That baby grew up to adulthood to heal the sick, raise the dead, help the poor, walk on water, and do tons of other miracles. However, most of all, by God the Father’s plan, Jesus was killed taking all of the sins of the world upon Him as He was executed on one of the most sinister of execution methods ever devised – crucifixion.

the prayer of salvation

The Center Of Our Salvation

Christmas is the most popular Christian holiday. However, there is none more important and spectacular than the holiday that celebrates the most important moment in world history. Of course, I’m speaking of what we refer to as Easter. That’s the day on which we celebrate Jesus coming back from the dead, stepping out of the tomb forever defeating the grave, death, and the Enemy of God – Satan. He did so to give us a pathway out of sin’s destruction that started in the Garden of Eden.

Without that resurrection, our faith is of no value. Those are not my words. They are from the Apostle, Paul.

“And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins.”

1 Corinthians 5:17

the prayer of salvation

The Prayer of Salvation: What Does “Born Again” Mean

In Jesus’ day, there was a Pharisee, a man of the Jewish ruling council who was very well respected. He came by night to see Jesus and we suppose that it was because he was afraid to be seen with Jesus during daylight hours. Nicodemus had some serious questions and wanted a truthful answer about this man who had been ministering to people, healing people, making the lame walk, and restoring sight to the blind.

This is where Jesus introduced his concept of being born again. Let’s look at a portion of their conversation.

“There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee.  After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.”

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?” Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.”

John 3:1-5

In this passage, Jesus uses the term “born again.” That means that you turn away from your sin, giving your life to Jesus, and He applies His death and resurrection to you and your sins are paid for. You become a new person.

Oh, you may have the same personality traits – some good, some bad. However, you will have received the Holy Spirit of God into your life who will stay with you, direct, help teach, and guide you until you enter your eternal destination of Heaven.

In other parts of the Bible, this experience is called “being saved.” You may have heard that term before. In the book of The Acts of The Apostles, the missionaries, Paul and Silas, were beaten and thrown in jail because of the ministry that had been done for the cause of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

However, at about midnight in the prison, they were actually singing and praising God. was a large earthquake that shook the prison so violently that the prison doors flew open and every chain fell off of the prisoners. The jailer woke up and saw the doors wide open and just assumed all of the prisoners had escaped which would probably mean death for him.

The jailer pulled out his sword to kill himself, but Paul shouted to him “Stop, don’t kill yourself! We are all here.” I can’t imagine the impact this had on the jailer as he had seen these men praise God in some of the most miserable circumstances of their lives, yet they still didn’t flee the jail when they had the chance. So, let’s pick up the story there.

“The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household.

Acts 16:29-32

They went on to the jailer’s house that night and he and his family believed and placed their trust in Jesus and were baptized that very evening.

So, being “born again,” “being saved.” “trusting Christ as Savior,” and many other terms used in Christianity are used to denote the act of surrendering your life to Christ and therefore becoming a Christian.

baptism after the prayer of salvation

The Prayer Of Salvation: Must I Be Baptized?

In the story above about the jailer and his family, we see that they were all baptized that night. That was awesome. When we are born again, God instructs us to be baptized. However, it is not being baptized that makes you born again or saved. Baptism is simply a symbolic testimony to the world that the sinful nature of the person is dead and buried, and now they are raised to a new life of freedom in Christ.

Should Christians get baptized? Yes. It is a wonderful act of submission. It’s actually one of the first acts of obedience that God asks a new Christian to fulfill.

But still, to answer the question, “Must I be baptized in order to receive Christ as my Savior or be saved?” The answer is no. However, why would we want to disobey one of the primary instructions that God gives us after we receive Him as Lord? Why would we want to start our new Christian life being disobedient to God by not engaging in the wonderful testimony of Baptism?

Prayer of Salvation? The “Sinner’s Prayer” Under Attack

There has been quite a bit of debate between pastors and theologians in the last few years about what has long been called the Sinner’s Prayer which is simply some example versions of prayers given to help those who desire a relationship with Christ. We gave one of these at the top of this article. A sinner’s prayer, which can be worded in many ways, is used as a guide for someone who wants to receive Christ as their Savior but didn’t know exactly what to say to God.

However, the idea of this prayer gets criticized quite a bit because there are situations where many are asked to repeat it without a proper understanding of what they are saying or actually meaning it.

Certainly, there is a danger in that. Just rotely saying those words of the example sinner’s prayer that we gave earlier on this page won’t save you. However, if you are sincere, repent, and accept Jesus’ sacrifice, asking for His forgiveness of your sin, then you will be saved (born-again).

It’s important to emphasize again that just saying words won’t do it alone. It is the attitude and expression of what is in your heart and soul that is important. When you turn to Jesus to truly trust Him as your Savior, He understands your intent even if the words seem insufficient. It’s not about the perfection of the prayer. It’s about the perfection of your God!

He looks at the intent of the heart. You could say the most eloquent and beautiful prayer of repentance of all times, but not mean it, and remain lost in your sin. On the other hand, your words could be all jumbled up but the intent of your prayer is pure and God will give you a brand new life in Christ!

So, men can debate the pros and cons of what type of prayer to say, or what words to say. However, if you genuinely admit that you’re a sinner, turn to God, giving your life to Him – trusting Jesus’ sacrifice for your sins you can be assured that He will hear you and make you a true Child of God.

verse for prayer of salvation

You Can’t Be Good Enough To Earn God’s Salvation

If there was another way that we could have been good enough to fix ourselves and obey the laws of God, then Jesus wouldn’t have had to suffer a cruel death for us.

However, He did. Always keep focused on the fact that He didn’t stay dead. The resurrection of Christ is the linchpin of the life and faith of a Christian. Jesus rose from the grave to seal the deal, defeat Satan (the enemy of God), and bring us life in Christ.

Examine the prayer of salvation above and see if it resonates with your heart’s longing. If you have not already I hope you will consider trusting Christ as your Savior, turning away from your sins, and committing your life to Him. That won’t make you perfect nor does it mean that you will never sin again. However, your past, present, and future sins will be forever forgiven, you can be rid of your guilt from the past, and live in the freedom and grace of the King of Kings!

Blessings to you as you consider life’s greatest decision, “what will you decide about Jesus Christ?”

Pray As a Believer

Can God answer your prayer for a new job or career? He surely can! However, even before you say a prayer for a job, God’s first desire is to have a relationship with you that is far greater than answering one prayer. He wants you to believe that He is the God of the universe Who loves you, and has a plan for your life.

We are going to give you some example prayers, that you can pray as your own, or put into your own words. These prayers are just to guide you. If you use the words and thoughts of these prayers you should mean them with your heart.

But, do so as a true believer. Do it as someone who has turned to faith in God. If you are not sure that you have a true Christian relationship with God we encourage you to first pray the prayer of Salvation here. God can work miracles from this point and we know that He can work for you.

As a Christian, you can tell Him that you want what is best for you because He is your Lord!

As Christians, we believe that there is an extraordinary amount of power in the prayers of God’s people. I would encourage you not only to pray for yourself but ask other believers to pray for you as well in this time of seeking a new job.

Prayer For Wisdom While Finding a New Job

Lord, I know that you are in control of my future. Although I may be afraid, anxious, or extremely frustrated about my current situation, I know that you have a plan for my life. God, I know that if I make my decisions about my future in my own power without your guidance, I may truly fail.

But, Lord if I make the decisions as you want me to make them, my life will be a life of fulfillment. So, I am asking you, God, that you give me the type of wisdom that can only come from you.

As I go through my present circumstances and look for opportunities for my future, please give me your wisdom and understanding to make the proper choices now and as I go into the future. Thank you, Lord. I pray this is Jesus’ name.

Prayer For A Job – Peace When Seeking a Job

“Lord, you understand every part of me so I know you understand the stress and anxiety that comes with trying to find a new job or career pathway. If I try to handle this all on my own I have the potential to become so worried that I won’t be able to rest and be fresh to face each day of this journey.

Your word tells us that you can give us a “peace that passes understanding.” So, God, that’s what I’m asking for. I’m asking you to supernaturally work in my life, my heart, and soul, to give me peace through these circumstances – the type of peace that can only come from you. I believe that you can provide me with that peace during this time and I trust that you will give it to me. Thank you, Lord Jesus.”

Prayer For a Job – Pray For Job Openings

God, I lift my prayer for a job up to You. No one understands my needs so much better than I do. So, Lord, I am humbly asking you to open up opportunities for me to get another job. God, I ask that you put me in the right place at the right time or with the right people in order to find the opportunity you want me to have. Let me learn of any new job openings through any method that you choose.

I ask you to help me make new contacts that I might need or speak to current or former contacts if that’s needed. Lord, please orchestrate any circumstances so that I might find just the right opportunity to find an opening with another company, another industry, or any place of business where you would have me work. Thank you, Lord, and I trust You.

Prayer For a Job When You Have Been Layed Off

Lord, I know I’m not the first one to ever lose a job, but it can be very frightening. Please provide for me financially while I am in this position between jobs. A lot of pain can come with a job loss. I know that regardless of the circumstances of being laid off, it will not help me to be angry and bitter during this time. If my former employer mistreated me or fired me for an unjust cause, I ask thatI be able to somehow find forgiveness in my heart so I can move on with my life without those negative circumstances and memories holding me back.

If, I need to gain interim or temporary work to help ends meet in the meantime until I land the full-time job that you want me to have, then please help me to do that also. Thank you, God, for watching out for me in every area.

Prayer For a Job If You Are Currently Employed

Dear Lord, I thank you that I am not currently unemployed. However, Lord, you know that this is not the employment that I would like to have long-term. You know better than anyone that I am not satisfied and have frustrations about my current job position.

I never want to come across to you as ungrateful for employment, but I do ask that you would help me seek out a new job with much wisdom. Even If I’m not pleased with the situation here, I know that you would want me to seek a new position with the utmost integrity when it comes to dealing with my current employers.

And when I do find a new job that you can provide, I pray for the wisdom to resign from my current position in the kindest and most honorable way possible even if I have been treated unfairly.

Prayer For a Job and For a Career Path

Dear Heavenly Father, I know that you love me and desire the best for me. I honor you as the great and holy God. I trust you that you will provide a job that will provide the income that I need to take care of myself and my family here on this planet.

However, God, I ask that you would point me not only to a job but also one that is fulfilling that I can make a career in – something that I love and something that I can flourish in.

You know my skillsets or my lack of skillsets in certain areas. So, I ask that you will open up the doors that I may begin (or continue) in a career path that I am, or can be trained for, that will be motivational for me, will be to the good of all parties involved, and ultimately be exactlyt what you want. Thank you, God, for loving me.

Prayer For a Job – Your Future Employer (Even if you don’t know who)

Lord, I want to ask for your blessings on my future employer. I pray that you will allow me to work with those who are honest, trustworthy, and people of great character. I pray that not only will this employment be a great blessing for me, but also that I can work and help bless my new employers as well. God, I would really love to work for some great people who will respect me as a person and appreciate the hard work that I will give them.

Lord, I ask you to give me a position that is really helpful to my employers and allow me to demonstrate your kindness and compassion in the workplace so that those around me in my new position will be encouraged as well.

new career - new job
Prayer For a Job – Opportunity For Job Interviews

Lord, if it’s your will, I pray that you will open up multiple opportunities for me to have job interviews with various people and organizations that might be a possibility for me to have the type of employment that I need.

Strengthen me and help me make any calls and contact people that I know or do not know in order to get job interviews that would be good for me and most especially something that you would want me to have. Please use your mighty power to help set up the situations where I can find and have the opportunities for these interviews.

Prayer for a Job Interview – Be wise and confident

Dear Father, as I go into the job interviews that you help me find, I ask that I will be able to do my very best. I first ask that I will trust you, lean on you, and know that you will give me the words and thoughts that I need to do well in the interview.

God, I ask that you give me clarity of mind in any interviews. Please help me talk confidently and calmly and address any questions that are asked of me with wisdom that can only come from you. Help me show the future employer that I would give my best to be an asset to his team of his employees and that my attitude would be one of positivity and excitement about the future.

Prayer For a Job as Self-Employed/Starting Your Own Business

This can be a hard decision to make. So many people want to be self-employed, to have their own business, and to seek more of an entrepreneurial lifestyle, That is great if God is leading you that way. Pray about these decisions and ask God to show you which way to Go.

Do we ask God to send us a sign or something when we are trying to make these tough decisions? Well, if we walk with Him, pray consistently, and stay in His word, He has ways to communicate His will to us.

Dear Lord, as I call on you in this prayer for a job, I think I have some skills and ideas that I believe you have blessed me with. I am willing to work wherever you want. But, Lord I have a desire for a business in mind where I could work independently providing goods and services for others.

I know this may not be an easy route and I understand that many fail at being self-employed. But, Lord if you will give me the assurance that my dreams of self-employment and my ideas will be blessed by you, then I will pursue this avenue. Working for myself and then potentially being able to provide jobs for others in the future would be a dream for me and I know that, if you so choose, you can make those dreams come true.

Please let me know if the self-employment route is the one that you would like me to take and I will work hard and begin the steps to make it happen. If so, I ask that you would provide me knowledge and wisdom to build my business in the way that it should be done. If this is not the best pathway for me right now, please let me know and I will go in a different direction.

Thank you in advance for taking care of me through all of this, Lord.

Trust God That He Will Come Through

As you look for employment, do your due diligence in finding the type of employment as well as you can, and trust God. Certainly, we encourage you in prayer for a job. All of these prayers are examples of what to say, but there are many things that God may bring to your mind that He wants you to pray for during this time. As you offer prayers for a new job remember that others are in need as well and pray for them as well.

You have the creator of the universe on your side. Does that mean you will get the exact job or kind of job that you want? No, it doesn’t. However, it does mean that you can have peace that you are not alone on your journey to new employment.

Through the ups and downs, whether your emotions are up or down, He will “….never leave you or forsake you.”

Prayers For Your Children: 25 Powerful Prayers for Protection & Faith https://livingpraying.com/prayers-for-your-children/ https://livingpraying.com/prayers-for-your-children/#respond Tue, 18 Jan 2022 16:39:04 +0000 https://livingpraying.com/?p=180

The Power of Prayer for Your Children

As a parent, you naturally want the best for your children. One of the most powerful ways to support them is through prayers for your children. Prayer is a vital tool, asking God’s protection and guidance over their lives. When we pray, we invite Jesus Christ into their journey, trusting in God’s word to shape their future.

Prayer is not just a routine—it’s a powerful prayer life that strengthens both parents and children. The Bible reminds us of this in Psalm 127:3:

“Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.”

By lifting our children up in Jesus’ name, we show that we trust in God’s grace and His plan for their lives. We also seek the power of the Holy Spirit to guide them, protect them, and lead them into a life of faith.

A Simple Daily Prayer for Your Child

If you are looking for a short prayer to say each day (sometimes called a pocket prayer), here is an example:

“Dear Father God,
I thank You for my child/children. I ask that You place Your hand of protection over them each day. May (child’s name) live a life of good character, love others, and seek Your strength in all things. Guide them on Your path, giving them wisdom to make good choices.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Why Praying for Your Children is Essential

Prayer is one of the most powerful ways to cover your children in God’s protection. The Bible encourages us in Philippians 4:6:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

When we pray, we surrender our worries and place our trust in the will of God. Prayer strengthens our faith, allows us to intercede on behalf of our children, and reminds us that God’s perfect love is always watching over them.

In the following sections, you’ll find 25 powerful prayers for different aspects of your child’s life, from protection and health to school challenges and faith development. Whether you need bedtime prayers, prayers for healing, or prayers for a rebellious child, these words will help guide you as you lift your child up to God.

The Most Important Prayers for Your Children

The greatest prayer you can pray for your children is that they will follow Jesus Christ and make Him the center of their lives. More than anything, we should pray that they develop a personal relationship with Christ Jesus and come to know Him as their Lord and Savior.

In today’s world, our children face many spiritual battles, but God’s word assures us that He is always with them. As parents, we must continually lift up prayers for your children, asking that they remain strong in faith and resist the temptations of a dark world.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6

As we pray, we entrust our children to God’s grace, asking Him to guide their hearts and minds. Let’s look at some powerful prayers for your children, focusing on their faith, spiritual health, and walk with God.

Prayer for Your Child’s Spiritual Health

Dear Father God,

I pray that my child will understand that their spiritual life is the most important part of who they are. May they develop a deep and personal relationship with Christ Jesus and know Him as their Savior.

Help me to raise them in a home filled with your love and grace, where prayer and Bible study are part of our daily lives. Let them become a shining light to those around them, reflecting the love of Christ in all they do.

I pray that they will not see their faith as a checklist of rules, but as a true, loving relationship with you. May they seek the power of the Holy Spirit and always walk in your wisdom and truth.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayers For Your Children – Physical Protection

As parents, one of our greatest concerns is the physical protection of our children. The world is filled with dangers, and while we cannot control everything, we can turn to God in prayer. Lifting up prayers for your children allows us to place their safety in God’s hands, trusting that He will watch over them.

God’s word reminds us that He is our protector. We can have confidence that when we pray, He hears us and answers according to His will.

“The Lord will keep you from all harm—He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” – Psalm 121:7-8

At the same time, we must not allow fear to overwhelm us. Some parents become so anxious about their children’s safety that it affects their own well-being. While it is wise to take precautions, we must remember that God’s grace is sufficient. Instead of living in constant worry, we should embrace the power of prayer and trust in God’s protection.

Prayer for Physical Protection

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the incredible blessing of my children. I ask that You place a hedge of protection around them, guarding them from harm and danger. Help them to be aware of their surroundings and make wise choices that keep them safe.

Guide their steps each day and give them discernment to recognize when something is not right. If anyone intends harm toward them, I pray that You would intervene and keep them from harm’s way. Let Your angels encamp around them and shield them from the attacks of the enemy.

I trust in Your mighty power and place their safety in Your hands. Thank You for always watching over them.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“We never know how God will answer our prayers, but we can expect that He will get us involved in His plan for the answer. If we are true intercessors, we must be ready to take part in God’s work on behalf of the people for whom we pray.” –

Corrie Ten Boom

Praying for the physical protection of our children is an act of faith. As we continue to trust in God’s will, we can rest in the assurance that He loves them even more than we do.

Prayers For Your Children Who Are Facing Sickness

As parents, it is difficult to watch our children suffer from illness, whether it is a minor cold or something more serious. Prayers for your children during these times are a way to invite God’s healing power into their lives and to trust in His grace.

The Bible reminds us in Jeremiah 30:17:

“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord.”

Below are prayers to help cover your child in God’s protection and healing during times of sickness.

Prayers For Your Children With Cold, Flu, and Other Short-Term Illness

Dear Lord,

I thank You for blessing me with this child. You know that they are not feeling well right now and are struggling with sickness. Lord, I ask that You bring them relief and help them recover quickly. Please restore their strength and allow them to return to full health.

May we have access to the right medications, rest, and care needed for their healing. Strengthen all of us during this stressful time and give us peace as we wait for their recovery. Thank You for Your mercy and for always being our healer.

Amen.

Prayer For Your Children With More Serious Illness or Disease

When a child is facing a long-term illness or a severe health condition, it can be overwhelming. In these moments, we must trust in God’s love, power, and perfect plan, even when we do not understand why suffering happens.

Dear Lord,

If I had a choice, I would never want my child to suffer from this illness. My heart is heavy, and I lift them up to You. Lord, please bring healing, comfort, and strength to my child’s body. I ask for Your protection over their mind, emotions, and spirit as they endure this difficult time.

You are the great physician, and I trust that You can bring restoration according to Your will. Please guide the hands of the doctors and medical professionals caring for them. Provide wisdom for every decision that needs to be made. Give me the strength to be a source of comfort and faith for my child.

I trust You, Lord, even when it is hard. I lay my fears before You and ask for a breakthrough and healing in Jesus’ name.

Amen.

Praying for your child’s healing is one of the most powerful prayers a parent can offer. Continue to trust in God’s word and His perfect timing, knowing that He is always near.

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” 1 John 5:14

Prayers For Your Children – Praying For a Newborn Who is Sick

If you are a first-time parent, seeing your newborn sick can be overwhelming and frightening. You may not even know what to say or how to pray, but God understands your heart. He knows your fears, your hopes, and your deep love for your child.

During this time, remember that God’s word assures us of His presence and care. Ephesians 6:18 encourages us:

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

Even when words fail, your prayers matter. Prayers for your children invite God’s healing power into their lives, bringing comfort to both them and you.

Here are some specific ways to pray when your newborn is sick:

  • Pray for God’s healing power to be at work in your child’s body.
  • Pray for wisdom and knowledge for the doctors treating your baby.
  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to surround your child with peace and protection.
  • Pray for strength and comfort for the parents and family members.
  • Pray that the entire family will experience God’s grace during this time.
  • Pray that everyone involved will trust in God’s will and His perfect plan.

No matter what, always remember that you are not alone. God’s love is greater than any fear. Lean on Him, and trust that He is working even in the unseen.

Prayer For a Sick Newborn

Dear Lord,

I ask for Your healing power to be at work in the body of our newborn baby. You are the great physician, and I pray that You bring comfort and restoration.

Give wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to the doctors and medical professionals treating our child. May Your Holy Spirit be present in every decision made, guiding them toward the best care possible.

Father, I know that You love this child even more than I do. I place their life in Your hands and trust in Your goodness. Give me peace and strength during this time, and help me to rely fully on You.

You are always faithful, Lord. I entrust my child’s well-being to You. Thank You for Your love, mercy, and healing power.

Amen.

During difficult times, prayers for your children serve as a powerful reminder that God is in control. Continue to seek Him, knowing that He is always near.

Prayers For Your Children – School Problems

Prayers For Your Children – Struggles at School

School can be a challenging place for children, whether they are struggling academically or facing social difficulties like bullying. As parents, we want to help, but sometimes we feel powerless. This is when prayers for your children become essential.

The Bible reminds us in James 1:5:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

We can pray for our children to gain understanding, confidence, and strength in their education. We can also pray for God’s protection over their hearts and minds as they navigate school life.

Prayer For a Child Struggling Academically

God,

I thank You for my child. You know how much I love them, and I know You love them even more. I ask that You help (child’s name) focus in the classroom, pay attention, and stay motivated. Please give them the discipline to concentrate on their studies and complete their work with a willing heart.

Lord, guide me as a parent to support my child in their learning. Help me be patient, provide the help they need, and communicate well with their teachers. If there are any learning difficulties causing these struggles, I pray that You reveal them so we can seek the right support.

I trust that You have a great plan for (child’s name) and that You will help them become a strong and confident learner in Your perfect timing. Thank You for being with us every step of the way.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer For Your Child Being Bullied At School

Bullying can deeply affect a child’s confidence and emotional well-being. If your child is experiencing bullying, lift them up in prayer and ask for God’s protection, wisdom, and peace.

Lord,

Thank You for the opportunity for my child to learn and grow. But right now, they are facing a painful challenge—bullying. Lord Jesus, You faced ridicule and hardship, yet You remained victorious. I ask You to give (child’s name) strength, courage, and peace in this situation.

Help them respond with the wisdom, kindness, or firmness needed. I pray that the educators and school staff will see and understand what is happening so they can intervene appropriately. Give me wisdom as a parent to support my child in the best way possible.

Most of all, Lord, I pray that (child’s name) does not have to go to school in fear. Let them feel surrounded by Your love, protection, and confidence in who You created them to be. Thank You for always watching over them.

Amen.

As parents, lifting up prayers for your children during school struggles reassures us that God is working on their behalf. Whether they need help with learning or protection from harm, we can trust Him to guide them through every challenge.

“Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.” James 5:13

Prayers For Your Children Who Have Anxiety or Depression

Children experience anxiety and depression for many reasons, and as parents, it can be heartbreaking to see them struggle. While occasional anxiety at school is common, some children face ongoing anxiety or clinical depression that affects their daily lives.

The Bible reminds us in Psalm 34:17:

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.”

If your child is struggling with fear, worry, or sadness, prayers for your children can invite God’s peace into their hearts. Below are two powerful prayers to lift up your child during these difficult times.

Prayer for a Child Struggling with Anxiety at School

Dear Lord,

I come to You knowing that every child is unique and precious in Your sight. Today, I lift up (child’s name) and ask that You bring peace and calm into their life. I pray that You ease the anxiety they feel at school and remind them that You are always with them.

Lord, I know that some children are naturally more prone to anxiety. I ask that You replace their worry with confidence, their fear with faith. Let them feel Your presence every moment of the day, knowing that You are guiding and protecting them.

Give me wisdom as a parent to support my child in the best way possible. Show me any actions I need to take to help them navigate this challenge.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer for a Child Facing Depression or Ongoing Anxiety

Dear Lord,

I bring my child before You, knowing that they may feel sad, overwhelmed, or afraid. Lord, You understand the weight of their emotions, and I ask that You fill their heart with Your perfect peace.

I pray that they know this season of sadness or fear does not define them. Help them see that emotions can mislead, but Your truth remains constant—that they are loved, cherished, and never alone.

Let them feel Your presence in their life. Strengthen them each day, giving them hope for the future. Help them take one step at a time, knowing that You are walking with them through every challenge.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“I call on You, my God, for You will answer me; turn Your ear to me and hear my prayer.”Psalm 17:6

If your child is struggling, remember that God’s word offers hope and healing. Continue to lift up prayers for your children, trusting that God hears every word and is working in their lives.

rayer.” Psalm 17:6

Prayers For Your Children Who Have Rebelled or Turned Away From God

As children grow into their teenage and young adult years, many go through a season of rebellion—whether against their family, faith, or values. Even children who have been raised with God’s word and strong moral foundations can drift away. If your child is struggling with their faith or making poor choices, know that you are not alone.

The Bible gives us hope in Proverbs 22:6:

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Even when our children stray from God’s path, we can trust in the power of prayer to bring them back. Prayers for your children during this time invite God to work in their hearts, soften their spirit, and guide them back to Him.

Prayer for a Rebellious Child

Dear Heavenly Father,

I lift up (child’s name) to You today. Lord, You see their heart, their struggles, and their choices. You know more than anyone the path they are walking and the void they are trying to fill. Even though they may not see Your plan right now, I ask that You draw them back to You.

God, I pray for a breakthrough in their heart. Remove any bitterness, confusion, or deception that is keeping them from knowing Your truth. If there is hurt between us, help us to heal and restore our relationship. If they are influenced by the wrong people, please bring godly friends and mentors into their life who will speak truth and encouragement.

I trust in Your mighty power to guide (child’s name) back to You. Thank You for loving them even more than I do. I place their future in Your hands, knowing that You are always working for their good.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

It can be painful to watch a child stray from God, but prayers for your children are a reminder that God’s love never fails. Keep praying and trusting in His timing, knowing that He is always pursuing them.

substance abuse

Prayers For Your Children Involved With Substance Abuse or Addiction

Few things are more heartbreaking than seeing your child struggle with substance abuse. Whether it’s alcohol, drugs, or other harmful addictions, it can shake a family to its core. As parents, we often feel helpless, wondering how to guide them back to a path of healing.

The Bible reminds us in Matthew 7:11:

“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

Even in the darkest moments, God’s grace is greater than any addiction. Prayers for your children allow us to place their struggles in God’s hands, trusting Him to lead them toward freedom.

Prayer for a Child Struggling with Substance Use

My dear Heavenly Father,

My heart is heavy for my child, (child’s name). They are caught in the grip of substance use, searching for peace and happiness in things that will only harm them. Lord, I know that true peace can only come from You. Please surround them with Your love and protection, even when they are not protecting themselves.

Open their eyes to the dangers of addiction and lead them away from this destructive path. Give them clarity, strength, and a desire to seek help. Please bring godly people into their life who will encourage and support them in making better choices.

I trust You, Lord, even in this difficult season. I know that You have a plan for (child’s name), and I ask that You draw them back to You.

Amen.

Prayer for a Child Battling Addiction

Dear Father,

I come before You with a desperate heart, asking for Your mighty intervention in my child’s life. You know the depths of (child’s name)’s addiction, and You see the pain it has caused. I ask that You break the chains of addiction and set them free.

Please give me and my family the wisdom to handle this situation in the best way possible. Help us to act with both love and firmness, guiding (child’s name) toward the help they need. If treatment is necessary, I pray that the right resources will be available. Protect them until they are healed and restored.

Lord, I trust in Your power and Your perfect timing. I know that nothing is impossible for You. Bring my child out of this struggle and into a future of hope, healing, and purpose.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Trusting God Through the Healing Process

Addiction is a battle that requires faith, wisdom, and support. While seeking professional help is essential, prayers for your children remain one of the most powerful tools a parent has. Never stop lifting them up to God, knowing that He is always working for their good.

Prayers For Your Children As Adults

Prayers for your children do not end when they grow up. In fact, as they navigate adulthood—careers, marriage, parenting, and life’s many challenges—they may need prayer more than ever. Whether they remain strong in their faith or have drifted away, lifting them up in prayer is one of the greatest gifts you can give.

The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

As parents, we must trust that God’s plan for our adult children is greater than anything we could arrange ourselves. Prayers for your children help us release our worries and entrust them to God’s care.

Prayer for Your Adult Child

Dear Father,

Thank You for the many years of life You have given my child. I pray that You bless them with many more, filled with health, purpose, and faith.

As they walk through adulthood, help them to stay connected to You. Let them seek Your wisdom in all decisions, nourish their spiritual life, and find strength in Your word.

Please guide and protect their family, whether they are already raising children or preparing for that season. May their home be filled with peace, love, and faith.

I ask that You pour Your favor upon (child’s name), leading them to success as You define it. Keep them ever aware of Your presence, and may they honor You with their life.

Remind me to pray for my child daily, knowing that my prayers are never wasted. I trust in Your perfect will for them.

Thank You, Lord. Amen.

No matter how old our children get, God’s love for them never changes. Keep lifting them up in prayers for your children, knowing that He continues to guide, protect, and bless them through every stage of life.

Prayers For Your Children – For Their Personal Salvation

Of all the prayers for your children, none is more important than praying for their salvation. As parents, we long for our children to know Jesus Christ, accept Him as their Savior, and walk in faith.

The Bible reminds us in Romans 10:9:

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

While we can guide, teach, and encourage our children, trusting in Jesus is a personal decision only they can make. Our role is to pray fervently that God’s grace draws them to Him.

Prayer for a Child’s Salvation

Dear Heavenly Father,

I realize that the most important thing in my child’s life is their relationship with You. My faith cannot save them—only their personal decision to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior can.

Lord, I pray that You work in (child’s name)’s heart. Help them see their need for You. Convict them of the truth that everyone has sinned and fallen short of Your glory (Romans 3:23). Open their eyes to Your love, mercy, and the incredible gift of salvation through Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.

Please, Father, do not let them wait any longer to turn to You. I pray that they accept Christ, surrender their life to You, and walk in faith. Let this be a priority in their heart and mind.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Trusting God with Their Salvation

It can be difficult when a child has not yet accepted Christ, but God’s word is faithful. Keep lifting up prayers for your children, trusting that He is working in their lives. Never stop praying, believing, and encouraging them toward a relationship with Jesus.

Final Thoughts: A Lifelong Commitment to Prayer

There is no true conclusion to prayers for your children—as long as we walk this earth, we will continue lifting them up to God. Whether they are infants, teenagers, or adults, our role as parents remains the same: to pray for their protection, faith, health, and salvation.

May we never lose the desire to pray for our children until the day we are called to our heavenly home.

The prayers shared in this post are just starting points—stepping stones to help guide your heart as you seek God’s will for your children. Let them inspire you to deepen your prayer life, trusting that God hears every word spoken over your child’s future.

14 Sincere Prayers For Surgery https://livingpraying.com/prayers-for-surgery/ https://livingpraying.com/prayers-for-surgery/#respond Tue, 18 Jan 2022 16:23:57 +0000 https://livingpraying.com/?p=173 Those who may be looking for example prayers for surgery have hopefully come to the right place. Below you will find quite a few examples of various prayers for friends, various loved ones, and yourself. When you, a friend, or relative is about to go through a surgical procedure we find that is a time when many people especially turn to God in prayer to ask for His blessings.

We will give many types and examples of prayers for surgery. These are meant to spur your own thoughts and prayers, or you may agree with some of these specific prayers and use them as your own. If so, we encourage you to focus on the words with great meaning and intent and not just rotely recite them. Power from God comes from God and He’s a God who first wants a relationship with you. We first invite you to make sure you have the proper relationship with Him that can bring life change, which includes powerful praying.

We sometimes use what we call a pocket prayer. That’s just our term for a short prayer that you can keep on your mind through the day when you are away from your prayer journal, your Bible, or any prayer help you may use. Here is a short version of a prayer for someone having surgery:

God, I thank you for the life of (person…). I ask that your Holy Spirit be present and active in this surgery. I pray that You will give (person…) calm and peace prior to the procedure. I ask that you give the surgeon and all assisting the needed focus and wisdom to do the procedure correctly and efficiently and that it will be a success. I also ask for (person) to recover as quickly as possible. Amen.

Prayers for surgery in hospital

As someone who has been in the room as a pastor prior to the surgery of quite a few people, sometimes it can be hard to know exactly the right words to say in prayer for someone in these situations. However, we know that God is much more concerned about the attitude of your heart and what your heart is crying out to Him more so than the exact words you say. So, use any of the prayers below as example prayers that might spur your thoughts onto other things in the prayer, or turn one of the prayers below into your very own. Just mean it from your heart – not just reading from a page.

Remember, it’s easy to say, “I will pray for your surgery.” However, remember to begin praying for them before the day of surgery if it is something that is scheduled in advance.

You may have surgery of your own coming up soon. We will start there if you are in need of that, and then we will look at several more examples of prayers for surgery below.

Prayers For Your Own Surgery

  • Lord, I know that it’s not uncommon for people to be anxious before any type of surgery. I pray that you help me keep anxiety to a minimum and that you will give me an inner peace – the kind that only comes from you. I acknowledge that you are the God of all comfort and I ask you to comfort my mind and emotions during this time.
  • God, I pray that you will arrange all circumstances needed in order for my surgery to be successful and it will provide me the proper treatment that my body needs. I ask that you let my body respond well to the procedure and may I heal as quickly as possible and recover well. I will trust in You to watch over me through this procedure. Thank you, God.
  • God, I pray for the surgeon(s) who will be doing my surgery. I pray for each nurse, for each assistant, and anyone involved. I ask that they have a clear mind that is sharp and focused on the task. Please give them your wisdom and guidance and I pray that the Holy Spirit will actually be present in the room guiding each and every one. Thank you for being a Good God.

Prayers For the Surgery of A Friend Or Extended Family

For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.” Psalm 122:8

  • Dear Lord, I want to lift up special prayers for surgery concerning my friend, (name). Please guide their thoughts and their emotional well-being prior to the time of the surgery and keep them as peaceful as possible. I ask that this surgery would help solve their physical problem and enable them to have a better quality of life. Guide the minds and the hands of everyone involved in the surgery. I ask that my friend would look to you for strength and encouragement. May they remember that You are the source of all that is good and that You are still the Great Physician. May this surgery be a great success and that the time of recovery would go very well for my friend. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
  • Lord, I can’t imagine what my friend, (name), is experiencing right now. I know that they must be having anxiety about the surgery and I ask that You would work to calm them. I ask that You would not only work for my friend to have a successful surgery but also that You would allow them to be ministered to spiritually through these circumstances. I ask for a successful surgery and recovery and that (name) will come out of this time trusting you even more for each and every day ahead.

Prayers for Surgery When the Patient Is a Child

prayers for surgery for a child

Everyone is important, but for those of us who have prayed prayers for surgery for and with many people. However, there is something so very special in our hearts toward a child who is facing surgery. So, we’re going to share this prayer into three different parts – praying for the child physically, mentally, and spiritually through and around their time of surgery.

  • Lord, I want to ask for the very best healthcare possible for this child. I pray that (child’s name)’s body will respond well to the surgery and that the results would be extremely positive. Not only do I ask that the surgery be successful for this child but, also, that there be as little pain involved as possible with this type of procedure. I ask for a return to the best health possible for (name) and that this child will have many, many years of life, love, joy, and productivity in the world. Please let (name)’s body recover well and as soon as possible. Thank you, Lord.
  • Heavenly Father, I know that you understand the emotions of this child and every other child in the world. You understand that there may be fear and/or confusion about the situation regarding this surgery. I humbly ask that you work in (child’s name)’s mind to give thoughts of comfort and hope. I ask that you turn any thoughts away from anxiety or fear and set (child’s name)’s mind on the love of family, friends and that Your love would surround this entire event. With the faith of a child talked about in scripture, I ask that (child’s name) will know that Your love for this child is great, even if they don’t understand that as they will be able to in the future. Please don’t let the thoughts of this child be those of constant fear and dread. Let them be thoughts of hope and love.
  • Dear Lord, You obviously know better than anyone how much a child can be influenced, molded, taught, and learn about love during the early stages of life. I ask that (child’s name) experience your love during the entirety of this surgery experience – before, during, and after. At (child’s name)’s very core, at the very heart and spirit, please touch (child’s name) in a way that impacts this child in a tremendously positive way even if he/she can’t articulate it. Please let this child grow up as healthy as possible and have a relationship with you throughout their entire life. Please show (child’s name) Your love as only You can and let (child’s name) embrace Your love and the love of those around him/her. Thank you so much for this child. You are a great God. Amen.

Prayers For the Surgery of a Parent

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12

Your parents might be very old or relatively young. It’s important that you pray for them, especially in a time when they may be afraid. It’s probably a majority of parents who try to love you, take care of you, provide for you, and form a special bond with you. Even though no parent is perfect, there certainly are many situations in which it seems the parent didn’t or seemingly couldn’t provide you with the love and care that you needed. Below are prayers for surgery for each of those situations. Pray for your parents, love them as much as you can, and try to forgive if you feel like they have failed you.

If your parent loved you well…

  • Heavenly Father, I give thanks to You for my mom/dad that you have given me. He/she has given many years in raising me, loving me, and teaching me. Mom/Dad have been there for me and I know how much they love me. So, I appreciate the fact that you let me be born with a mom/dad who worked hard to love well. But right now I ask that your spirit comfort him/her as he/she faces this surgery. Even though they may or may not try to hide their fearfulness about this procedure, I’m sure it must be there. Please give them peace. I know that You have the power to guide the hands of the surgeon to perform a surgery that is successful beyond what we can even imagine. Please calm their anxiety, my anxiety, and we rely on Your faithfulness to work. Thank You for being my Heavenly Father.

If your parent struggled to love you in the proper way…

  • Father, I thank you for this parent that will undergo this surgery. Maybe we have had some tough times together. Maybe I feel like he/she could have loved me better or treated me better. I also realize that his/her actions weren’t necessarily what was in the deepest part of their heart. I just want to forgive them and ask you to bless them in this time of surgery. Please allow this procedure to go well and for everyone who participates to work to the greatest of their ability to get mom/dad through this surgery in a successful manner. I also ask that you give me the love that I need to express to them and treat them according to Your love even if sometimes my emotions don’t seem to let me feel the love that I should. I would ask that this would be an event that would not only bring physical healing but spiritual and emotional healing for dad/mom as well as me. Thank you, God.

Prayers For Surgery of a Sibling

  • Dear Lord, thank you for this brother/sister of mine. Brothers and sisters may have ups and downs, ins and outs in their relationships, but when we face hard times we want and need to stick closely together. I simply ask that you encourage (sibling’s name) during this entire process before and after the surgery. You know that I want it to be a successful surgery but I also know that I need to give you praise for all that you do through the process. Brothers and sisters hold unique places in the hearts of people so I ask you to hear my prayer, let your Holy Spirit work in this situation, and bring the outcome to be exactly what you desire.
Prayers For The Surgery of a Grandparent

There is something special that can happen between a grandparent and grandchildren. In some cases, due to various circumstances, the grandparent can have a strong or stronger place in your heart than your parents. Love and treat your grandparents with love and respect as long as they are alive.

  • Dear Lord, I ask for Your blessings on my grandfather/grandmother. They come from an entirely different time and culture than I do. They were once young without the limitations that their body might want to put on them now. Please give my grandfather/grandmother an inner peace that is so strong they will know it’s from you. I ask that you prepare all the doctors, nurses, and technicians to do their very best and that you will be in control of the entire procedure. I ask for a great outcome for this surgery, but that You will have Your will in every aspect of the future with my grandparent’s health. Thank you and praise you, Lord.
Prayers for Surgery for Those Who Don’t Know

Sometimes we hear a friend or relative tell us about someone who needs prayers for surgery that might be approaching. Even though we might not know them, we can still pray well. Here are a couple of examples.

  • Lord, I pray for (name, if known) who is having surgery soon. God, I really don’t know this person but according to my friends or family, they have an important surgery coming up. Although I don’t know much about the specifics, You are all-knowing and understand every detail of what is going on. Please work in the life of (name, if known) and use the doctors and medical staff to bring total healing if that is Your will. Thank you, Lord. Please bless this person.
  • God, I don’t really know anything about (name, if known). I only know that they are in need of surgery, so I come to You as sincerely as I know how and ask You to cover this person in Your grace and love and please take care of them through this time of surgery. God, I ask that the surgery be a success if that is Your will and that You will bless them. God, I also remember to pray for their family during this time. Have Your will and way in the life of (name, if known).
