I don’t really think of Amazing Grace as a southern gospel song, but a hymn that many groups across various styles will sing. I love “Go Rest High.” It can fall into several categories. It’s a great song!

1. While “Amazing Grace” is always listed it’s really not a Southern Gospel piece as it was written by John Newton (an Anglican – English Clergyman) in England in 1772; but we love and identify with it none the less.
2. Vince Gill’s “Go Rest High On That Mountain” isn’t listed anywhere and if that ain’t Country/Southern Gospel nothing else is. It’s seldom found third verse, BTW is as profound as any could be.
