Thanks for the question. Baptism is a first step that a believer should take after they have received Christ as Savior. The waters of baptism do not save a person. However, it is an act of obedience and it is symbolic that a believer is identifying with or testifying to the fact that they have accepted the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We do not believe that it is a requirement for salvation, but a follower of Christ should be baptized as a testimony to the world. It is one of the first things that a follower of Christ should do as they are being obedient to Jesus.
