Bible verses for birthdays

Okay, we are looking for Bible verses for birthdays. Let’s start off with a very special verse from the book of Psalms that can encourage us to celebrate on any day:

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

If you are at an age in life where you have some challenging decisions, here is a verse from Lamentations that tells you that God wants you to depend on him. That can really take a lot of pressure off of our lives if we do that!

“The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.” Lamentations 3:25

We will jump to the New Testament for a quick verse and hear an incredible statement that was made by one of the godliest men who ever lived, the Apostle, Paul. He tells us to be full of joy and party….well sort of!

“Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!” Philippians 4:4

Here is another passage from the Old Testament that paints a beautiful picture. Even if you know that bad things are happening around the world on your birthday, God will someday make all things right. We have that hope and that promise if you have placed our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11

Our next in our search for Bible verses for birthdays is a “blessing” verse that is used many times in churches and other gatherings of Christians. It asks for the Lord to bless you and be gracious to you among other things. As I write this I ask those things for you today!

“May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” Numbers 6:24-26

We are still using the passage from the Old Testament to find Bible verses for birthdays We will be back to the New Testament in just a bit. If you find yourself seeking some type of answer from the Lord in some situation, this is a good passage for you. We always want God to answer our requests quickly and in the way that we want.

However, many times He will ask us to wait for an answer. I don’t like to wait. However, He is good to me!

“The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him.” Lamentations 3:25

Bible Verses For Birthdays From The Psalms

Now we are going to take some time in the wonderful book of the Psalms. The book of Psalms is filled with verses for so many different occasions. The psalmists wrote these songs while praising God, loving God, and even questioning God at times when they didn’t understand what was going on.

Okay, we understand that a birthday can be a time of celebration. We want it to be a time of joy and happiness in our lives. Our friends and relatives around us may do what they can to make that possible.

However, there are times when we are struggling in life. Maybe a birthday will provide you a little encouragement – or it can make you sad. You may be going through something in life that has you fearful. If you are a child of God, He is there for you. Take a look at these encouraging verses>

“The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?” Psalm 27:1

“For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory.” Psalm 32:7

Bible Verses For Birthdays – A Personal Favorite

The following passage was very important to me when I came into a time of deep depression earlier in my life. Actually it was the entire chapter of Psalm 91. I didn’t even remember this chapter until I (not so accidentally) came upon it. I didn’t understand what was going on because I had never felt such sadness and didn’t know why. I’m glad that because I have trusted in Jesus Christ that I am in the Shelter Of the Most High! Take a look-

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.” Psalm 91:1-2

“The Lord says, ‘I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.’” Psalm 91:14-16

Those verses can give give us hope, joy and make us want to praise and thank God more. Let’s continue in the Psalms.

“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.” Psalm 103:2-4

“Give thanks to the God of heaven. His faithful love endures forever.” – Psalm 136:26

Maybe you were looking for Bible verses for birthdays because you or someone else is experiencing feelings of doubt – that maybe God doesn’t love you or doesn’t really know you. The psalmist in chapter 139 goes very deeply here and illustrates how deeply and closely God knows us. He made us!

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:13-14

Just continue to praise God for this birthday as you read through another couple of wonderful and engaging verses from the book of Psalms.

“For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations. The Lord always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does.” Psalm 145:13

“The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness. The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth. He grants the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cries for help and rescues them.” Psalm 145:17-19

I love that! He is filled with kindness so we can depend on Him. The problem is that we want to depend on ourselves more than God. Sometimes the more birthdays we have the more we try to become independent of Him. Or, if we let him, the older we get we can become more dependent on Him.

Listen to what He asks us to do. If we do this it can take the pressure off of our lives:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6

Now we’re going to jump back just a bit…not literally…but take a quick look at some other passages from the New Testament. Here we see God telling Jacob that he would be protected. God can protect you too!

“What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.” Genesis 28:15

Bible Verses For Birthdays – From the OT Prophets

Now, from the prophet, Jeremiah we get a quick glimpse of the incredible love of God that will last forever.

“Long ago the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself. – Jeremiah 31:3

I don’t want to forget to wish you a happy birthday again if it’s your birthday. I hope these Bible verses for birthdays are being a bit helpful. Let’s take a look at just a few other passages from the Old Testament then we will look at some from the New.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

Bible Verse For Birthdays – On to the NT

Those are some incredible promises. Those people who lived in Old Testament times, the times before Jesus came to earth to live and die to pay for our sins. I don’t know about you but I totally believe that He did that. He lived for 33 years before He was crucified, buried, and rose from the grave.

But then He didn’t leave us alone with sending another part of God…which was and is the Holy Spirit. You can’t have a bigger gift on a birthday than to allow the Holy Spirit to come to live and work in you by trusting Jesus as your Savior and making Him the boss of your life. Look at this incredible verse about the gift of the Holy spirit

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.John 14:27

In the verses below we are back to the apostle, Paul. He was first called Saul and actually persecuted Christians. However, God radically changed his life and he devoted the rest of it to tell about the grace, mercy, and love of this great Savior. Here are two incredible passages that I think are great Bible verses for birthdays.

The apostle Paul Bible verses for birthdays

Bible Verse For Birthdays – From the Apostle, Paul

Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?Romans‬ ‭8:32

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.Romans. 8:38-39

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

One of Paul’s primary duties was to bring the gospel of Jesus that had been brought to the Jewish people over to the Gentiles as well. So, in biblical terms in you are not a Jew, you’re a Gentile and God loves us all and offers Himself to all of us. He adopts each believer into the true family of God when they receive Him.

“God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.” Ephesians 1:5

Part of this next verse we have for you used to be puzzling to me…“pray continually’ how do you do that? Well, you do that by just keeping an open line between you and God. Certainly, you can have a special time of the day when you pray more intensely. But you can keep the line open all day with God and talk to Him while you work or play. That gives us something to celebrate on a birthday!

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Now we are going to take a look at several verses that are taken from several of the books that were written by Paul. Did you know that he wrote most of the New Testament? He certainly had to be one of the greatest men ever! Take a look at all of these encouraging verses.

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.– Philippians 1:6

Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9a

“So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.Ephesians‬ ‭2:10‬

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Ephesians‬ ‭3:20

Bible Verses For Birthdays – When We’re Afraid

And here we take one last look at a passage from the New Testament writer of the book of Hebrews who quite possibly is the Apostle, Paul. Are you facing a birthday that should be a happy time, but you find yourself to be afraid of situatons in your life. These two verses can lift us up when we get discouraged.

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7

“See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.” 1 John 3:1

The final two verses that we will offer to you are found in the final book of the Bible that brings a conclusion and eventually a new beginning in the story of man. We see those who are worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ in all of His glory.

You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.” Revelation 4:11

And then we know that in the end, for everyone who has believed in Jesus, not just some random God – but the God of the Bible – those people will live forever with no pain, no guilt, no sorrow, and no tears.
